Has anyone else noticed that the more active they are the better the fibro pain seems to get?it's hard at first to exercise when you are in pain but if you have a strong will power like i do, you tend to press on through the pain and eventually it will pay off.i think that excercise helps ic symptoms too.i am strong willed enough to not let ic or fibro control my life.sometimes you just have to get up off that couch,if not for yourself but for your loved ones.i will not let anything, NOT EVEN IC, get in the way of me being there for my family.even if you feel that you can't exercise because you are physically disabled, then try to do exercising while sitting, like leg lifts or get a pair of 3lb weights and do arm stretches with them.anything helps.i'm willing to work hard no matter how much pain i am in if i can get stronger and be there for my family.

No I really wish I could agree with you but exercise and I haven't gotten along at all since I developed fibro and then shortly after the IC. My rheumatolgist is always telling me to stretch more and exercise more and all it has ever done is put me into a flare. I have tried all different levels of exercise. I can tolerate walking which seems to help my PFD but if I do too much it can even make me worse. And this is coming from someone who used to be addicted to exercise. I was doing 90 min bootcamp classes, 60 mins of kickboxing, 200 situps .. I LOVED exercise and this has been one of the hardest things to accept since developing fibro and IC. Even yoga flares me! I am very happy for you that it is making you feel better. I hope it continues for you. Exercise is such a mood lifter for sure :)

Maybe excercise is like meds, just because it helps one doesn't mean it'll help someone else.i think getting up and just moving around or going outside for someone that is in severe pain is better than staying inside constantly.that itself would be depressing.i wish there was something that would cure each and every one of us.someday...........

Exercise is the difference between being ok and functional and being in pain all the time. I feel better, I sleep better, my mood is better when I exercise. The choice of exercise is very important for those of us with fibro. I do walking, used to do Curves (that worked well) and I am now on the Wii fit, which is fine but no more super hula hoop.

Cheryl,It's wonderful that you work at a school helping children with disabilities. You are an inspiration because you did NOT let IC get you down!
YOU GO GIRL!

but working out makes it even worse. I really wish I could work out...that is great that you can. My fibro is horrid now. The last time I went on a walk I had to put ice on my knees. :(
