Folks,
There is a huge worm attack going through the system this afternoon and evening. It's a worm called SASSER that is attacking straight through the internet from computer to computer. It doesn't attack by email. You'll know you have it if you get a message saying Windows NT alert... and then it gives you a window that shuts down your system in 50 seconds.
So far, I've cleaned this laptop twice.... upgraded all of my programs... and I still am getting attacked through my IP. Anticipate being off the computer tomorrow until the ISP's stop these at the source rather than allowing them to attack our individual computers. It's a real bear to clean off your system.
So, if you're using a Windows ME, Windows XP or Windows NT computer, you are absolutely vulnerable. Make sure that you upgrade your windows software and get the latest patches. Also make sure that you keep your virus programs updated.
