well I know this has nothing to do with ic..but I never had a strained foot before..and I noticed that you guys are jacks of all trades. I strained my foot some how monday, then Thursday I wanted to have fun and the BSU had a mud volleyball game..it was sooo fun..I didn't even notices I was hurt until I took a shower. I went to the dr and she give me Naproxen, and told me since it was more then two days to put heat....I used icy hot..I really didn't have fun to let water run on my foot. Then last night my friend got her leg stick on mine when we where talking home, and left up my good foot and I had to try to save myself with my strained foot, that so didn't work I got throw in the air, and fell on my feet, knees, and hands...I hurt like no tomorrow...then it started to swell up and I had a nice big bump...so I went to the er last night...thank goodness I didn't break anything in my foot..since it was the third time in five to six days. She said I can't do anything with sports..I love sport even more..that I had a fun time. I keep icing it..and have it bandaged..and keeping it up..does anyone know how long I have to keep it up..It hurts to walk..but I cant' just seat for a week....so not me..any idea's of what to do? do you do PT? and if so when, is a good time to start?

:::as she smiles and winces recalling her own foot problems:::

The rule is... if it hurts... don't do it! I was a professional tennis player for years... and both my knees and feet are a total mess now. I've got plantar fascitis in both feet... and if I strain it, and then foolishly walk on it again, I'll be hurting for weeks. So, my suggestion is that you follow your doctors advice. Don't do anything on it for a week... but you could still go to the gym and do arm exercises, eh???

Good luck!

Jill :)

Thanks Jill... so I shouldn't walk on it at all..when it hurts to walk? I went to the er and they just wrapped it...When should you start sports again...when I don't feel anymore pain?

I sprained an ankle several years ago --- in the ER they put an ace bandage on it and told me to not walk on it for a week. At that time, I worked at a hospital and my co-workers suggested I call my own physician. He referred me to an orthopedist. To make a long story short, he put it in a walking cast for three weeks.

Be very sure to protect the injury until it is better --- and checking in with your regular doctor is a good idea.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna
