My Husband is coming to visit (took a job in ND and we were waiting to move until out daughter graduates) I just recently started to see a pain doc and HE IS WONDERFUL!!! But only has about 11 ICers so he said they pretty much tell him what works and he prescribes it, he said they get ideas from their Urologists, and from talking to others on forums like this.....So Ladies please help me educate myself!! Some history on me if this helps I had my IC diagnosed about 10 years ago when I had some Endometriosis surgery in San Jose Ca (Great doc!!) I live in Idaho so it was quite a trip for me! They also diagnosed me with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) I later had a complete Hysterectomy so now endo pain is gone and just have IC to deal with:) My hubby has had this job for 2 years, during that time my IC has gotten worse (ya think maybe stress is rearing it ugly head:rolleyes:) I will be picking him up at the airport on Friday 4-17 at 9pm so I will be breathlessly be awaiting your strategies:bow:

Use plenty of lubrication --- even if you feel you don't need it --- and let him know what you are feeling. Open communication really does help. And if you're uncomfortable afterwards, many times a cold pack will help.

Donna,
Thanks for the reply, we do use lube and it is a must!! My PT recommend pure coconut oil like for cooking and it is wonderful, an added benefit is it tastes good too!(TMI)
I use to use Pyridium a couple of hours before sex and it does help, but my hubby dislikes (sorry graphic) the taste it causes, anyone else have this issue?
I had noticed in post that some people use vaginal valium and mentioned it however the doc said everyone he had, given it to got raging yeast infections soo I opted not to try that. I do have a muscle relaxer and will try taking that an hour or so before, but most of my problems are after either shortly and or for 24-48 hours, extra pain pressure and frequency so I am open to any ideas for these, I am reading the romance and sex thread and it has some great tips, I should of put this post but didn't know to post so when I got the right button diden't even know where I was putting the post!!:shake: I will get better, I tend to like to just read and lurk, but it's hard to get your questions answered if you don't ask them:) Thank you again!!

I have the day after symptoms too. I have been taking a hot bath afterward and soaking for half on hour and sleeping with my heating pad on low that night. It has helped a lot. Good Luck!

MommaD,
I haven't tried the hot bath after, sounds like a lovely Idea! I usually sleep with my heating pad on low, sometimes 2 one on back and one over bladder! Heating pads are awesome!! Thanks Jamie64 (bet you can't guess how old I am =)

If most of your problems are after wards take the Pyridium after wards. I have not had any problems with yeast from vaginal Valium, but I don't get it compounded I get the 5 mg pills and for easy of application I buy replends, I cut the top off the plastic applicator break the pill in half and put both half's of pill in applicator and the insert.
The replends is a moisturizer for women that last a couple of days, so will help with the lub too. I buy at Costco it is much cheaper there and it says to use every few days, I find I don't need it that often, I only use it when I am feeling dry or need to use a pill.
I use a heating pad, my BF after wards to help ward off the spasms I get.
Good luck MG

Hi I have never taken, and I am not even familiar with Tizanidine HCL 4MG,(Zanaflex), so I could not answer this ?. I have never heard of anyone using that med in that way.
I just googled both of these meds, they are not the same thing and work in different ways.
I am sorry to say but I really think you need to talk to a Dr. before trying this.
But if you have been prescribed this med you could try taking it right after wards or before and see how it goes.

valium in suppository form. It will help ease your pelvic muscles.

I will defiantly talk to the Doc and not experiment on my own, I still will try the replends on its own though! Thanks to all and here's me wishing you all Great Sex and no flairs!!

keep us posted about how things go for you, and let us know what your Dr. thinks about this. If you are going to ask your Dr. for Valium sup print out some info from the site about it, it may help your Dr. to understand, this is not how it is typically used.
