Has anyone been able to find Pear Butter at a grocery store? I live in the southwest region of the country but can't find it anywhere. I would prefer it without cinnamon as I can't tolerate spices.

We're working on it. We had a great supplier for Pear Butter but the family sold their business and retired a few months ago. Got a few new sources in the works and hope to have Pear Butter again in our store this summer! It's amazingly hard to find!

I now have found 9 different recipes for Pear Butter. I will be making some of them. Tweaking some of them. And I am also going to learn to can them to store. When I test them I will let you all know how it's going.

I've never heard of pear butter? Does this replace jelly, or peanut butter?

Pear butter is just like apple butter. You use it as a spread on toast, etc. I am interested in pear butter without spices like cinnamon. I'm sure one can make it but I'm too lazy to do that.

Dear Carolyn in Phoenix--At my local health food store on the Big Island (Hawaii) I buy St. Dalfour Gourmet Pear spread--it's imported from France--for about $3.50 per jar--you can also find it online but I think it was quite a bit more--this is an absolutely delicious preserve with no cinnamon--although it says it contains lemon juice it must not be enough to bother me, because I can eat this "jam" without any problems (I never eat a lot at one time) and it is the only jam I've found that I can eat--it is very flavorfull and yummy especially with cream cheese, if that's something you can tolerate.

I have found 2 pear butter sources I can tolerate. One has cinnamon listed on the label (Olde Time No Sugar Added Pear Butter by Cooper's Mill of Bucyrus, Ohio). The other does not list cinnamon in the ingredients. The one without cinnamon listed is Amish Pear Butter packaged by Miller's Orchard of Nappanee, Indiana. The listed ingredients are pears, pear juice and or concentrate. They do sell it on the web at the Amish Acres Online General Store. It might be wise to contact them before ordering to be absolutely sure no cinnamon has been added. It isn't listed on the label but, if you are sensitive to cinnamon, I would double check.
