Hello Everyone,
I am conducting research on treatments for IC for a project I am doing in my Technical Writing course and would appreciate everyone's input. Please let me know what treatment worked best for you. You can choose more than one treatment if a combination of treatments worked best for you. If your treatment is not listed please post it.
Thank you for assisting in my research!

Add instillations (although) it didn't help me. It may have helped someone else.

The cysto/hydro procedure helped me. Even though it may just be a temporary measure it has certainly been worthwhile for me.

what helps me the most is the heparin and marcaine dmso treatments daily at home and klonopins pain medicine (only when needed)

For me it's been hydrodistentions, bladder instillations and diet modification.

What helped me most and sent me into near remission for a while was acupuncture right above my tailbone, where they usually put TENS unit pads. Unfortunately, I had to move to CA from NY, where my acupuncturist was, and haven't found the same level of acupuncture care since.
I might talk to my doctor about a TENS unit.

I stopped using bladder control pads. They contain a nasty chemical that dries up your tissues and causes atrophy.
My IC symptoms started to subside within days of discontinuing them. That was in September of 2003. If you use them stop and see if you get better. If you do then write to the Food and Drug Administration and tell your story. I did.
I hope this helps.

Hi all!
For me cysto/hydros have worked for me along with the IC diet and prelief. I am not going through a nasty yeast infection. I read that Y I's are caused by low acid in the vagina. Well, if I am on a low acid/low oxalate diet does that mean I will get more and more yeast infections? I sure HOPE NOT!!! It's all so frustrating sometimes!:headbang:

Oops! I meant to say I am "now" going through a nasty yeast infection. At first I thought it was just a flare up and tried to ignore it. But, 6 weeks later, it is still here. Going to my GYN tomorrow..hopefully she will give me some Diflucan.
