If the back pain is something new, I do think you should see your primary care physician for some help.

You might also talk to your uro about doing the instillations at home; DMSO is fairly expensive, but doing the instills at home should save some.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Hi Holiday... I have back pain pretty frequently - more often than not in the left flank area. Ruled out kidney issues and ovarian cysts, so I guess this is part of the wonderful world of IC.

As for the racing heartbeat... I'm not sure how fast yours has been, but on average, I have a racing pulse (110 resting pulse rate!) I was beside myself worrying when I realized how high it's been (home monitor), so I went to my doctor who confirmed the high heartbeat. With no other signs of heart trouble (my bp is fine) he told me that our body's heart will beat at faster speeds when trying to fight an infection. Well, I have had a low-grade fever for as long as I have had the racing heartbeat. No known infections, so I don't know if my doc was blowing smoke out of his :toosh: or it this is yet another IC thing.

Try not to worry too much! (easier said than done - I know!)

Holiday....I feel so bad for you. My IC gives me terrible back pain as well, and I know how hard it is to deal with. I really hope you start feeling better real soon, and that you are able to get some meds that help. I take a mild muscle relaxer for my back and it really does help. Best of luck to you...I admire your positive attitude!!! Sheri
