Hello, I was prescribed the generic for neurontin.Im not finding much relief from 300mg a night. I hear that alot of people take about 1800mg a night to feel much more relief. some even 2400mg. I want to be able to sleep through the night for the first time in years. I want to talk to my dr about increasing the dose. For those of you who are on neurontin how many mg are you on and do you sleep through the night? Not only is it annoying to get up so much at night but Im going on a road trip and when Im sleep at night in the car. I dont want to ask the driver to pull over every hour. That would suck for everyone.

Hi : For me I only take 300mg at night works OK because I combine the atarax, elmiron and elavil . I was on 75 mg of the elavil at night and the side effects where too much and I couldn't function in the morning I was too tired . I only take 25mg now with the 300mg of Neurontin and I sleep all night and feel great the next day . I hope you find some relief soon... and the right medication that works for you!!!!

Hi-- I take 1200-1600mg a night. Normally 1200 but if I feel a flare ccoming, 1600. It really really helps.
needsrelief, I took Neurontin for several years & it helped my IC a lot. I took approx 800 mgs 4x's day not all at one dose. I think it would be hard for
the kidneys to process 2400 mgs at one time. The dr started me on 100 mg capsule at night, then 100 mg 3x's a day & gradually raised the amount. I was also taking it for migraines & seizures but the effect it had on my IC was amazing. Even a small amount made me sleepy at first but my body adjusted. I know my post is late but I'm curious what your experience has been with Neurontin. I know the dosage has to be raised gradually & stopped gradually.

hi needsrelief,
I am currently on neurontin and have been on it for almost 2wks. My doctor started w/ 300 mg at night the first week and increased it to 300 mg twice a day for the second. I am truthfully not finding much relief yet either. I am also having trouble w/ the drowsiness from the morning dose. I will see her in a week to discuss how it is working and I plan to ask her to increase it or try something else. It is a neurological drug so it has to be increased slowly. So I am hoping that a higher dose will provide some relief. Don't be afraid to tell your doctor that such a low dose isn't doing enough. Maybe they can provide something else that will help you sleep.

Although I have stopped the Neurontin since Lyrica took over my dose was around up to 900 mg 3 times a day.
I hope you can find a way that gives you the amount of relief you need! :grouphug:
