Hi

I am not quite home yet from my holidays I am at my Mom's which was a plasant surprise for me it was not planned. I have had no access to internet on holidays, this is my first chance to say hi and up date people that I am still in the land of the living.

I had a very good relaxing holiday, I really enjoyed having my youngest son come along, he had been living away from home to go to school first semester, so I am so happy to have him to our selves, you know teens, you take second place to their friends. He is very pleasant and easy to get along with so having him along really added to my enjoyment.

I only had a few IC problems, found a few more foods which I can not eat but the flares from food were short lived thankfully.

I got food posioning which made me dehydrated, I am prone to UTI's and I got a UTI which judgeing from the pain it went into my kidneys too, but I had AB's to take, so I got over the infection but I am still dealing with quite a bit of kidney pain.

For the most part I only drink water and found most bottled water I could tolerate, but when we were in Orlando for 10 days I found even the small amount of water I swallowed brushing my teeth was too much, I think their water is heavily chlorinated.

Thank you to all who wished me a good holiday, it came up quite suddenly so I had a lot to to get ready in a very short time, but it was worth the rush, I enjoyed it alot. We met lots of new people, we went on 3 crusies, went to ports in the Carabean I had not been to, had days that we did nothing but lie around and read. We didn't spend too much time in the car driving around (something my husband is prone to do this). Weather could have been hotter but I don't really care about that too much anyways, anything is better than what home was getting.

By mid of next week I will be home and after catching up on everything that has backed up while away I will be back on the boards.

How is the kidney pain different from the usual UTI (pr IC) pain?

It sounds like all in all you had a nice vacation. I know you'll be glad to be back home; I know I always am.

Warm hugs,
Donna

It does sound like you had a nice, relaxing time. Well, except for the food poisoning part, anyway!

Thanks for the welcome home, it does feel like going home just to be able to catch up with people here.

Jamie64 To answer your question if I have just a regular UTI I feel most of the symptoms just in my bladder and urethra. Urgency and burning mostly, tired, week and I sweat alot, but if the infection moves into my kidneys I get alot of flank pain or pain just under my bottom ribs in my back and I may get alot of sharp stabbing pains in there area too. I ussally feel quite a bit sicker and run a higher temp. I ussally try to get UTI's treated fast so it doesn't spread to my kidney's. After you have had an infection in the kidney the pain can last there for quite awhile after the infection is gone, and I haven't found much to help kidney pain. I spend all of December really sick with a kidney infection because I got a uti but I thought it was just my IC flaring and being run down, so I didn't get treated for it very soon, by the time I did I was on IV AB's and oral AB's to get rid of it.

Take care MG
