i was just wondering if anyone out there can help me with this. Since yesterday I have been having a stabbing pain in one of my ovaries. I had a partial hysterectomy so my ovaries are all I have. Its not a constent pain but it will come and go like some one is poking my ovary with a knife. Hurts pretty bad. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Patricia

I have been having very bad pains where my ovaries are for quite some time now. My gyn did an ultrasound & didn't find anything, so she assumed that it was ovulation pain. She told me to pay attention to when it was happening (within my cycle) to make sure & I'm positive that's what it is. One month it's my left side, the next it's my right, which is the way we're supposed to ovulate. I don't know much about hysterectomties, so I don't know if you even still ovulate or not. I'm just throwing this out there. Hope you get it figured out!

Thanks everyone. I went to the Gyno last week and I had very bad bladder infection and a kidney infection. That night after I posted the pain went around to my back. I have had kidney stones before and they bladder infection sometimes its hard for me to tell what the difference is.
Thanks Patricia

I've had a cyst on my ovary for about eight years. It never gives me much trouble, I can feel it when I ovulate, if I'm laying in bed on my stomach. It feels like a crawling feeling. It was discovered when pressing deeply into my abdomen. I said "Ouch" so they wanted to check it out.
When I started having "The burn" or what felt like I.C. symptoms, I saw my gyn. He wrote up a referral to get a blood test called CF 125. I just did that yesterday. He told me he doesn't want to alarm me, but just wants to check for cancer since I never had the test before. The cyst was found through ultrasound....two of them about three months apart. It didn't get any larger, and I've been told it's pretty small. So keep your fingers crossed that I'm okay.

Thanks for the "heads up" on that. I'll have to research those levels when I find out what mine are.

I just heard from my gyn and my test result came back from the CA125. My level is a 38. He said the normal level is 35. He wants take my ovary taken out.
Removing the ovary sounds too extreme. It doesn't bother me, unless the doctor digs his fngers into it during an exam. I've had the cyst for several years, but the size isn't getting any bigger.
I wondered if my ic syptoms could be related to this; if I have cancer of the ovary would it cause burning urethral pain. Also I'm premenapausal, periods starting to change, short periods, or late periods. I'm 50.
If anyone knows where I can research this CA 125 test which gives me more information on the levels, or guidelines when surgery is indicated, please let me know. I would like to take an active part in avoiding this surgery, if at all possible. Thanks.

Thank you for you fast reply! I agree with you. I'm going to talk to my primary care doctor as soon as I can get an appointment. I don't want anything removed unnecessary regardless of my age. I've already had one unnecessary c-sec years ago and since that time I've become an activist for my own health care.
The thing I'm trying to figure out is if IC could elevate the levels, or if I do, in fact have cancer of the ovary, that it would cause the IC symptoms. I have no pelvic pain with IC, just burning and some light pressure.

Get your Primary doctor to tell you about a good oncology gynecologist to check you out. Since they deal with ovarian cancer all the time, they will give you the best advice about what you're dealing with. I've also heard that C125 are not very reliable. I have fibrocystic breast, but the doctor that I got to for breast exams is a breast surgeon. He does so much surgery on breast tumors he knew more than my OB-GYN and can tell when my cysts aren't fibrocystic. He told me to come in anytime I see anything unusual. I love doctors like that. I would rest better having a second opion from someone who knows cancer. I'd also rather have someone remove an ovary with a cyst that might be cancerous by a oncologist. I just had an oofarectomy, and I recovered so much faster because I had a doctor that did more surgeries than the doctor that did my last laparoscopy.

Thanks Mimi,
I did to exactly that. I have an appointment with a oncologist/gynecologist this Friday. I picked up my ultrasound reports, the CA125 report and I even have the films!
I'm going to also tell this doctor about me being evaluated for IC and what prescription drugs I have been on. This may have altered the results.
