I had my 1st DMSO treatment. I hated it. As they did it, the presssure got so intense!!!! I could only hold it 5 mins, prob less actually....Im in massive flare since. I dont mind all this if it works, hopefully next one wont be as bad, I know Ive heard diff stories..everyones different I know. See, my bladder doesnt fully empty so as it fills the pain is so bad and then when I did release it I still have pressure because of the lack of emptying it.
Thanks for listening ....

My first DMSO hurt like **** too -- it hurt being cathed, it hurt while they were putting it in, it hurt BAD to be holding it -- especially since they told me to just go ahead home with it in me. I was lucky my husband was with me... he drove about 90 mph down the road to get us home. Can you imagine being in a CAR with DMSO in your bladder (NO lidocaine)? I was screaming at my husband to get me the **** home... he did. Then I got home and almost didn't make it to the toilet.
When I peed, finally, it burned like crazy. Afterwards, I collapsed on the bathroom floor. My husband came in and took me up in his arms and rocked me while I sobbed. After a while, I stopped crying and took the pain pill he brought me.
I was TERRIFIED to have another DMSO treatment after that... but, guess what. The next one hurt, but not as bad. They improved a little each time, until they were tolerable for me! Even still, I can't hold it any longer than about 25 min, and it still burns to void after, but... I do it anyway because it really seems to help my symptoms. I have much less pain after the instills, and even the frequency was down, which is a major achievement!
I hope that you stick with it for a few more treatments, and that the instills help you LOTS.... :)
