Hi all, Im married, have 3 kids. I work PT and hubby works full time and carries ins. I have IC and was diagnosed only months ago with it after suffering years and had full hysterectomy from the pain I was in , only to still be in pain.

As you all have done Im sure, I went through lots of tests to get where I am today. Im in therapy DMSO every week, on elmiron and pain mgmt. I am also on anti depressants. Sad life for 34 years old. I once used to be so happy and social...I find myself not as entertaining anymore..who would be. NOW I am spending so much in meds and dr visits. Ins only paying what they feel is enough and me stuck with the rest...then pain mgmt , my ins wont cover this dr so I pay OUT OF POCKET for pain relief! Does anyone know of any assistance offered for this problem. I am afraid Im will go totally broke over my illness.

Thanks for listening you guys! :)
Christine

I really think it stinks when insurance companies are making decisions about which medications we need to take. It's just not appropriate.

That said, is there any possibility you can work with your pain specialist and your primary care doc so the primary care can order your pain meds? That might help a little with your expenses.

Both my husband and I are on Medicare, which does not cover medications at all --- so we order our most expensive ones out of Canada, which does save us a bundle.

Also, sometimes doctors offices have samples of meds that they care share.

Sending encouraging hugs,
Donna
