I met with my urologist last week and he said he would support my application for a medical retirement from civil service!!!!! I have three more years to work before I can do a full retirement so there would be a penalty in my pension but I'm having the numbers run now. Doc said it may be hard to prove but my case is well documented and my supervisors can certainly attest to the impact of my stressful job on my health and the fact that I end up sick if I work too many hours in a week. We'll have to see, but it was a relief to know he would prepare all the paperwork!!! Keep your fingers crossed

I am happy for you. It is good to know that is there if you need it.

I changed jobs a year ago. But I'm happy to still be working for the state b/c when I left my old job I was one year shy of being able to take disability retirement if needed. Now being in my new job a year I have enough credits if anything were to happen. Of course like you say there would be penalty for early retirement but not nearly as much now that I have 10 yrs credit.

It is a relief to know that it is out there.:)
