I heard on a newscast about different states cutting back on spending, including Arizona's closing rest stops on highways --- I won't be going there soon!

Please tell me it isn't true.....

I'm in northern California and all of the rest stops between my town and Tahoe have been closed. It's a 3 to 4 hour drive there in good weather and not ONE rest stop. We drove to Vegas recently too and tons of the rest stops on the way down through the desert were also closed. If they are going to close all these rest stops they better just get used to see my bare behind on the side of the road!!

It's awful Donna. Cut-backs are happening all across our Country. Everything from rest stops to closing schools. I think I am about your age. I've never seen in my years of living such loss of hope, depression and all the problems our Dear Country is experiencing. It is very disturbing. I think here in the Northeast there seems to be many exits with a fast food close by. Since I've spent much money taking my children & grandchildren at these places for many years, I don't feel gulity to make a pit stop there. We don't have any other recourse. Hugs, Ziggy

I saw that on the news last night too. That spells problems for many of us.
I will keep a disposable(3# empty coffee container) In the back of the truck for emergencies. I have had to use that before but not lately. I also agree the fast food restaurnats have gotten a lot of $$ from me in the past. I will use their facilities when necessary.

Texas is the same, they started to close them down a few years ago. I think there is 2 between San Marcos (about 20 miles on the other side of Austin to Temple - which is 75 miles on the other side of Austin). For the most part I never use them as the ones that are around here are just for resting/eating. If you needed to use a bathroom you were out of luck.

Vermont has also closed down many of the rest areas, but there are the fast food stops at many of the exits. It also helps that we are still rural and we still have lots of woods by the side of the road.
