Hi Im new here and I just found out I have Radiation Cystitis from the treatment I recieved for cervical cancer 10 years ago. I feel weak when I have a flare up...just wondering if this is normal. I almost feel like I have the flu or a virus. I have had many test done like CT scans, pelvic exams and papsmears and ofcourse a Cystoscopy and urine test for bladder cancer. The only thing that showed up was Radiation Cytitis. I am 43 years old but feel 90..Im so depressed over this because I feel like my life is over. I think what gets to me the most is the weakness and the anxiety. I have been having bad anxiety attacks because I feel so weak. The doctors dont help much ... they tell me Radiation Cystitis is rare and that they dont know much about it. They can only treat the symptoms which they arent doing much for me. They gave me prosced but I cant afford it. I was given Xanax which helped me more than anything but now I cant get a doctor to give it to me because its a control substance. Its not fair and I have to suffer with anxiety because of it. I guess what I want to know from others on this site is if anyone else has weakness issues. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Pain can cause extreme fatigue. I have a friend who has radiation cystitis; Several years ago I gave her IC diet information and she later told me it was helping. She moved away and I haven't seen her for a long time so I don't know how she is now.
If you haven't tried the diet, it might be worth a try. And by all means, ask your doctor if you can try a different medication --- hopefully one you can afford.
Sending warm healing thoughts,
Donna

I hear ya on the weakness. I feel so lathargic lately. I don't get alot of pain but I sure have alot of burning and pressure to urinate. I'm lucky in the sense that I don't have the frequency others have. I do however feel very unwell just like you stated like I have the flu. I just want to curl up on the couch with my water bottle. I do follow the diet very stricktly. I would highly recommend it for symptom reduction.

Thanks for the reply Carol I hate to hear when people are ill but its nice to know that I am not alone with these symptoms. When I feel weak I feel like the doctors misdiagnosed me even though I had all the proper testing. Its hard to believe sometimes that this illness can cause all these issues. I wish they would find a cure for it. I am trying the diet and pray that it works because this is so hard to deal with. I just moved to Italy and I get depressed because most days all I can do is lay in bed. I am going to try and be positive and stop thinking my life is over.
GBU and hope you are doing well.:cat::angel:
