I have been taking prosed when in a flare and although it provides relief it is minimal and I end up with a severe migraine shortly after taking the med. I believe it is the blue dye in the pill. Anyone know of a muscle relaxer/antispasmodic that is dye free. I have a horrible flare right now and nothing is helping, and I don't want to take the prosed again and end up with a migraine to match the flare :)! I have the most spasming in my back and the sharp shooting pain in pelvis. Any suggestions would be great. The docs here say heat and hydrocodone if necessary, but I would much rather not take the pain pills as it rarely helps the spasming either. I go back to my urogyn next week and will ask her as well. I may end up calling sooner although I know she is on vaca this week. (Aren't they always when we really need them?)

Thanks

A muscle relaxant is a drug which affects skeletal muscle function and decreases the muscle tone.It may be used to alleviate symptoms such as muscle spasm and pain, and hyperreflexia. The term "muscle relaxant" is used to refer to two major therapeutic groups: neuromuscular blockers and spasmolytics.Neuromuscular blockers act by interfering with transmission at the neuromuscular end plate and have no CNS activity.I have not been tested for this, but I do take Prosed DS. It is a relatively new drug that combine a lot of different medicines, It is for pain though, not for clearing up and infection.

My neurosurgeon ordered flexeril for muscle spasms after my neck surgery. It seems to work pretty well.

I suffer from migraines also. I have not had any problems while taking Prosed. Where is the pain? If it is in the clitorial area, what helps me is a B&O suppository. Think Positive! :smile tee

I tried Prosed DS for about a week, and it triggered my migraines as well. I normally get them occasionally, but with this, it certainly brought them out more. I kept thinking that it was a side effect (blurry vision) until it felt like an ice pick in my head. I wish you the best of luck!!

Yesterday was my first full day of taking Prosed. I had to take 4, plus a Ditropan and some Turms before feeling "okay" last night. I woke up early yesterday morning with the worst headache of my life. It came and went all day yesterday. This morning I woke up with another headache, but not as bad. How long does it usually take to feel some relief from the Prosed? I know I've only been taking it for a day and a half, but I'm sick of going to the bathroom all the time. I've had IC for four years and have been managing it find with Elavil and Ditropan. I still eat chocolate, spicy food, drink coffee, pop, etc. So, why all of a sudden and I have problems? I go back to see my Uro next week.

My suggestion is to call your doctor and ask for a different medication --- and just for a while --- give the IC diet a try.

Donna,

I will call my Doc tomorrow and I've had a slight headache on and off today. Also, my IC symptoms haven't really gotten any better since taking the Proced. I've been dealing with this flare for 10 days and want it gone.

Talked to my Uro's nurse yesterday about the Prosed side effects. She said I could quit taking it if I wanted to and just take the Detrol. Well, today I woke up with no headache. I am still having some abdominal cramping in the AM and have to go #2 a few times. Today I was at work and not all that close to a potty (I work outside) and had that constant urge to go and thought I was gonna die. Not to mention that for a while my privates felt like they were on fire. I managed to get through it, but even right now I have that urge. The good news it that awful constant pressure I had has gone away. I'm just so tired of feeling crappy. What's more is that my period is right around the corner. :toilet:

If prosed does not work in one or two days, I say it is not going to work (baring having an infection which prosed will not cure). If you think it is the blue that causes a headache than the equivalent of prosed is an OTC med called cystex plus an antispasm prescription (hyscomine - spelled wrong)which is an ingrediant in prosed. Then you have all the things in prosed but without the blue. Some people get hormonal headaches when they get their period. Hope you figure it out.

Violet, thanks for the info. I was prescribed the Prosed for the flare I'm having that doesn't want to let go. I went to be around 12:30 and woke up around 7am when the alarm went off and went "hey, I didn't get up and go potty during the night". Still have the feeling of having to go, but don't feel on fire.

I'm taking zanaflex and it helps my bladder spasms but doesn't work all the way until the next dose. Gives relief for a little bit though. Dye free, really don't know. Excedin migrane also kicks butt with migraines. I have been on prescriptions and nothing works as well. I don't know why the dye would cause a migraine, are you allergic to blue dye? I urinated the color of blue & green for days from dye from a medication, it didn't hurt my head though. Sounds like you need to just try a different medication.
