I started home instillations and I now take an antibiotic everyday. The problem is the way the antibiotics interfere with my birth control. My husband and I have never had a normal sex life because of the IC. I have gone through physical therapy and I have found treatments to help the IC symptoms. Sex was finally great. Then I had to go off the Elmiron because of severe bleeding issues. The instillations are working well but I am worried about the antibiotic. We can't manage to keep condoms lubricated enough to keep them from hurting. I am allergic to spermicide. I don't know what else to try. Any ideas?

you might want to do a little more research about it. the mini pill is affected by antibiotics but it's debated weather or not it effects combination pills. also, i had read that it was believed it interfered with the mini pill because it changed intestinal flora and in turn the digestion of the pill.....so if that's the case i wonder if something like the nuva ring or the shot which doesn't depend on digestion would be effected i would guess that you are on a very low does, but everyday is probably another factor verse a round that only last a few days.
