View Full Version : trouble with garlic
I have been using a lot of garlic in cooking since this latest flare. Garlic never bothered me before but now I have used chopped fresh garlic in pasta and oil and I think it is causing flares. Has anyone else noticed this?

I usually use powdered garlic, and I haven't noticed a problem with that. Maybe you could try powered to see if that makes a difference for you.
We are all so different. I noticed that others can't eat raw onions, they need to cook them, with me, they bother me if I cook the onions, but, I can eat a small amount of uncooked onions with no problem.

Garlic is usually considered to be IC safe, but I can't tolerate it. I can eat cooked onion with no problems, however, so I use it to season meats, etc.

P.S. I will move this topic to the Diet board, where you may get more responses.

I haven't noticed any trouble with garlic... but I am one of the ones who cannot eat raw onions. If they are cooked all the way so that they are nearly transparent, they are ok... but raw ones? Those get BOTH my bladder and bowels!!
Good luck!!

In the beginning I had trouble with garlic but now tolerate it as long as it is fresh. Minced garlic from a jar is a definite no no for me as it is packed with acid as a preservative. Guess our tolerance for things can change as we travel this road. How frustrating, huh?!!!
Onions in all forms....fresh, thoroughly cooked, onion powder.....are out for me. My bladder insists on bland while my taste buds are begging to do their intended job and are screaming for some flavor! Arghhh!!!
