Lots of questions about pregnancy....

My uro told me that IC pain virtually disapears while pregnant. Is this true? I want to have children, but I cant imagine being in severe IC pain ALONG with being pregnant. Also, I have heard that IC can come about after giving birth as well as after a C section (I already have IC, but dont need it getting worse!). I have also heard horror stories about extreme tearing that make IC worse and infections after a C section that also makes IC worse.

When I got pregnant my symtoms went away except for having to void all the time but thet also is just part of being pregnant. I remained symtom free from the time I got pregnant until this easter when I had my first flare in 2 years...

I am 17 weeks pregnant and wish that I could report that my IC is in remission. However, I have been flaring since about week 10. Prior to that point, and for several months before conceiving, I was doing very well. I have never experienced pain with my IC only frequency. And, boy, do I mean frequency! I have to pee just about every second of every day. I am off all meds, but have been given the okay by my ob to resume instills of elmiron, which I had done for 5 months prior to my pregnancy. However, I'm trying to wait it out and not begin the instills again- just to be safe. This is my third pregnancy, but my first with IC. I am hoping that my IC will calm down soon. If not, I'll make it the best I can. I definetly plan to breastfeed so I cannot look forward to resuming most of my meds anytime soon. I don't mean to discourage you because I have read of many women who do go into remission during pregancy. At any rate, I know this baby will be worth it for me! Best of luck to you,
