I live in the Philadelphia area and have noticed that there are no up and running support groups at this time. The one at Graduate Hospital has stopped after many years. Now the one in Allentown is at least temporarily stopped.

Does anyone know of any upcoming plans for support in this area? I attended the Phili group a couple of times and it was well attended. I would think there is a need for support here and I have been brainstorming on what to do.

Hi Lyn,

Wish I could help... I am in NY, but know how frustrating it is not to have a support group close. I used the site here to find the closest ones http://www.ic-network.com/activism/supportgroups.html but I can't handle the 45 min - 1 hr drive to get there.

Maybe you can ask your uro if he/she knows of any MSWs or CSWs who may be referred to IC patients, therefore know about IC, and then maybe the social worker can help put something together?

Shot in the dark, but you never know...

Chelle,
Thanks for your response. This may be a silly question, but what does MSW & CSW stand for? I know it is something social worker, which I would never have thought to look into. I have an appt with my Uro next month. I may discuss this support issue with him.

Lyn,

Not a silly question at all! MSW usually stands for Masters in Social Work and CSW can stand for one of two things, so it might help to ask for clarification: Clinicial Social Worker or Certified Social Worker.

Hope that helps!

I'd definitely be interested in a local support group. I've been diagnosed with IC since 1990 and have never actually met anyone with this condition.
