OK, need help, pleeeese. Im seeing a pain mgmt dr tomorrow highly recommended to me, LONG STORY , shortened: MY INS WONT PAY FOT ME TO GO, I HAVE TO PAY 350.00 TOMORROW TO BE SEEN. Its a lot of money (I dont have) however my health and quality of life stinks and I need relief so Im in a position I need to go (and charge it). DOES anyone know of any other way..does the State help??? OR can my husband take me off our insurance plan so I can claim medicaid...or would that too not be allowed. I never think that way, but I feel they are not trying to help me (insurance) so I need to find other ways. If anyone can give any suggestions or just wanna chat about it I am here, and listening..Im so sadly depressed about this whole D*** thing!
THANKS :kiss:

hon no need to cancel your inc.
you can have medicaid and a diff type of inc it doesnt make no diff. in what inc you have medicaid will work with it.
but for medicaid they go by your income and how many people are in your house hold unless your own dis. if you are on dis. its a little easier to get on it. like if your preg. you could get on it alot easier.
there is so many guide lines to medicaid.:( but very helpful in some cases, but yet not helpful in other cases like going to the pain doctor some doctor will not accept it because it is medicaid medicaid doesn't pay the full % i think they pay like 80% of the bill. so there for alot of doctor want take it.:( I hope things work out well for you
let us know what happens
sending you hugs and prayers

It can be expensive even with insurance. Most Pain Mgmt. Docs are Anesthesiologists and are not preferred providers for any plan. They are covered, just at the lowest level, and you end up paying the difference. Maybe look into some of the free drug programs offered by the drug companies.
I will tell you that my Pain Mgmt Dr. is sooo helpful and willing to try different regimens and medications that it is worth whatever it costs to get a little relief. I hope you find a way. I also hope that you appointment went well and you can relax a little.

Can your Urologist prescribe pain meds? If you told him your insurance company would not pay for a pain specialist maybe you can convince him to do it. I have not found a pain specialist who really helped all that much anyway.
Or your primary care doctor???
The biggest problem I see here is he (pain doc) will want you to come back every 4 or 6 weeks. If he puts you on strong meds you need a written prescription each month - not refills.

I saw my primary and he refused. My uro will only give Ultracet and that didnt touch the pain, he said to see pain mgmt. He knows ins doesnt cover..really what does he care, not his MONEY! (argh) I got narcotics so I will have to pay every time I go, I go again this Thursday, 60 more dollars, what a joke. BUT I need the pain meds cause Ive had the pain for too many years! Not fair to suffer...now I will just be broke..dont win either way ya know.
Thanks for your help.

Christine,I read about you and the pain management doctor, you sound just like me,
My family doctor won"t give me pain meds,or niether will my uro,They both want me to see a pain doctor,You"re right they don"t want to see you with medicaid.
I told one that I would pay out of my pocket, even thought it was going to cost me a arm,& a leg to see him,but no! they said they would"nt because they would want to do other types of treatment, like the spinal injections, which when I did have regular insurance, before they cancel on me,I had 2 of those, and all it is,is a quick fix it did"nt last long, but I just seen a new pain doctor this Monday, and even though its a 3 hour drive that my husband has to drive me,and I"m nearly dead after the trip, but I was told about her, that she would pretty well give you what-ever you though you needed, for the pain,I did"nt believe, the person who told me about her,but it cost me a $150.00 the first time, just for about 10 minutes of her time,She gave me 15 percocets to start off with, but I have to go back in 2 weeks,to see her again,I think thats another $150.00!! But the nurse reassured me that I would get plenty more the next trip I come back. Its so sad that our regular doctors that we use everyday, won"t give us the meds, but They won"t!!! I also have problems sleeping,up and down all night, always to the bathroom, also I have fibroyigia, and the chronic pelvic floor pain, and severe migraines,So you can see that I really need to get some help, before I go crazy! with all this pain!!!
But I really do hope that you got the help that you were trying to find. All of us just have to stick together, and help each other as much as we can.
Thinking of you,Shirley
