I was looking on the internet and I happened by IC, I think that I have had IC for awhile now, and was wondering if anyone could help me. I ALWAYS have a burning after sex and right before my period and I have had this since I was about 17. I t happens all the time- I constantly burn- Somedays I wake up and I'm like - Oh well hell, todays another day. I live on AZO it seems to help. I have been to the doc countless times, once even to the emergency room it hurt so bad- No one could find anything wrong. No bladder infections or UTI's or STD's - nothing according to them. Now that I'm pregnant I get this cramping constantly- But it seems to be worse when my bladder gets full or after I go pee. Sometimes in the middle of the night I wake up in sweats and cramps because my bladder is full- It feels much like mestrual cramps. Speaking of which have been horrible throughout my life. Does anyone know if IC causes misscarraige or if it sounds like this could be what it is. Any thing I can do while pregnancy to relieve the pain? Should I be worried? Thanks so much!

If you do have IC this is the place to be. Your symptoms do sound like it. You need to see a urologist to get tested.
Many go into remission while pregnant....but if that is not the case for.....
Have you tried the IC diet? How about Prelief? Also heat pads?
Heat and cold help with inflammation and can be helpful even if the pain doesn't seem too bad.
Congratulations on pregnancy...I hope things go well for you.....I have not heard of IC being considered a cause for miscariges....maybe someone will know for sure.
Best of luck to you..let us know if we can help you anymore.
Feel free to contact me.
Best Wishes

Well, before you start on any new meds, you should check with your ob first. There are so many conflicts of interest where IC meds and pregnancy are concerned. For some new recipes click on www.ic-network.com/icchef/veg.html
Maybe you can find some alternatives to help with your flares.
If you have been to countless uro's or md.'s and still get no relief, I encourage you to continue on and find a uro who will help you and give you the right dx.
Back to your pregnancy..cramps are normal...I had them too. If you are uncomfortable call your ob...they usually have a call service if it's after hours. It never hurts to use it and at least be reassured.
I have a healthy two year old now and did ok during the pregnancy. I even had a remission for four months afterwards.
I hope you get the answers you need and hopefully have a more comfortable pregnancy.......The changes your body is going through right now is just amazing......I hope you can enjoy this time in your life!;)

You can find the diet in the ICN handbook at:

Prelief is simply calcium phosphate. I'm sure there is no reason you can't take it during pregnancy because it's just calcium and phosphorus but post a question about it on the Prelief topic board and Betty - who works for the company, can answer it.
