I was looking on the internet and I happened by IC, I think that I have had IC for awhile now, and was wondering if anyone could help me. I ALWAYS have a burning after sex and right before my period and I have had this since I was about 17. I t happens all the time- I constantly burn- Somedays I wake up and I'm like - Oh well hell, todays another day. I live on AZO it seems to help. I have been to the doc countless times, once even to the emergency room it hurt so bad- No one could find anything wrong. No bladder infections or UTI's or STD's - nothing according to them. Now that I'm pregnant I get this cramping constantly- But it seems to be worse when my bladder gets full or after I go pee. Sometimes in the middle of the night I wake up in sweats and cramps because my bladder is full- It feels much like mestrual cramps. Speaking of which have been horrible throughout my life. Does anyone know if IC causes misscarraige or if it sounds like this could be what it is. Any thing I can do while pregnancy to relieve the pain? Should I be worried? Thanks so much!

It definitely sounds like you might have IC. You really need to find a doctor who knows about IC - perhaps a urogynecologist would be best?
Go to the ICN homepage and click on "finding a provider" which will help you find a doctor in your area who treats IC. I found mine through my GP but this is a great place to start.

Meaghyn,
I'm sorry you're hurting so much! :( I agree with Emily. I think a urogynecologist would be perfect for you, because of your pregnancy, your bladder symptoms, and your history of severe menstrual cramps. Your bladder symptoms do sound like IC, but there are other conditions that can have the same symptoms. I wrote a chapter about that in the Endometriosis Association's book, The Endometriosis Sourcebook Or, you could have IC and something else, like endo. I don't mean to scare you! It's just that women with IC sometimes can have endo too, as well as a few other conditions. But even if you have IC, endo, or both, there are treatments to help you. One thing you can try right now: drink lots of water. It dilutes your urine so it's not too acidic. Also, ice packs or a heating pad help sometimes. Hang in there, and let us know if you need anything.
