I've had ic for ten years and recently after my pharmacy switched me to a different generic version of ditropan I had a horrible flare that lasted for a few months. After getting back my old generic I seemed to be improving frequency wise but I'm still getting this horrible burning pain in my bladder. The strange thing is I've never had this in all my years of ic. I've always had frequency issues. What do you guys do to help with the burning?

I should point out that I have been tested for a UTI and STIs

I developed burning as well and found it was Vulvodynia that was causing the burning rather than the IC. However, my burning is vaginal, but I do feel it worse after I urinate.
To help, I use an ice pack and Lidocaine jelly, which is an anesthetic that has a sort of numbing effect. If the burning is really bad, the ice pack works best. I always use Alleve for pain as well as burning.

I use baking soda water for burning.

Urelle (or Prosed, Utira-C, Darpaz, etc.) all help with burning as they have an analgesic property to them. I also use baking soda and water when needed. I sleep with ice packs at night too, so that the burning doesn't keep me awake.

Hope you find some relief soon.

I use the baking soda in water too, which almost always helps me. This is probably something you'd want to talk to your doctor about first if you're on a sodium restricted diet though.

Also, I always keep OTC meds like Uristat or Azo around and use them when burning bladder hits.

I hope this ends soon for you!
