Hi I just wanted to send out a quick note for those who are regulars here, we decided yesterday we are going to go on holidays leaving Sat. Feb 13 and returning March 22. I wanted to let people know that I am going to be off the site for this time. I enjoy my time spent reading and responding to peoples posts, I find I get so much help from these boards, I have been coming here reg for about a year now and my IC has come so far, I feel I have much better control of it now. In the past traveling like this would have put me into immediate fear, but now I know I can handle it.

For the most part the diet has helped me the most, I have tried just about all of the meds used for IC but have found they either don't work for me or the side effects are too bad, usually cause me retention to the point of being unable to pee.

Another thing that I think has helped me a lot, and I think most of my symptoms come from retention, is I went on thyroid med a couple of weeks ago, I feel quite a bit better, coincidence maybe, but I will take improvement any way it comes.

I am really excited about this trip as my youngest son is coming with us, he graduated the end of Jan. and is off to University next year 500 miles away. He has also just moved back home the end of Jan, he was away going to school, so I am really pleased he decided to come on holidays with us. It may be the last time we get to take him traveling with us.

I will post when I get home.

Thank you so much to everyone as I feel it is help I have gotten from this site that has enabled me to get my life back to the point of being able to do this.

Thank you Mothergoose

What reason were you prescribed thyroid med?

Hi sorry it took so long to reply but I have had no access to internet on holidays, I had a very good relaxing holiday, with only a few IC problmes. I got food posioning which made me dehydrated, I am prone to UTI's and I got a UTI which judgeing from the pain went into my kidneys too, but I had AB's to take, so I got over the infection but I am still dealing with quite a bit of kidney pain. For the most part I only drink water and found most bottled water I could tolerate, but when we were in Orlando for 10 days I found even the small amount I swallowed brushing my teeth was too mcuh, I think their water is heavily chlorinated.

June Coulston I was put on thyroid meds because my thyroid function was low on tests, I have been a very low dose and will soon be tested to see if it is enough, I have had a little problems with retention and feel a bit better from this low dose so I won't be surprised if I need to up the dose. this is comman pratice to start at a low does and then slowly up the does every 6 weeks or so depending on what your blood test show.

Thanks MG

PS Thank you to all who wished me a good holiday, it came up quite suddenly but I enjoyed it alot.

HI MG

I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation to Florida. How much fun that must've been.

Water where I live is heavily chlorinated, too. So strong you can smell it from the tap! I buy reverse osmosis water by the 5 gal to drink and cook with.

Hope you are feeling well. I took a vacation recently too and feel like I need a vacation from my vacation lol:)

take care

I know what you mean about the vacation from a vacation, we have been away from home for 6 weeks now and I am ready to get back to normal life. This last few days have been nice I am at my Mom's and can sleep in and relax, don't have to get up to rush some where, my Mom is also very careful abot food for me, it has been really nice, but now I am ready to go home to my cats, and dog.

Thanks MG
