Well, I went in to see the URO today after waiting 10 weeks. I hade a cystoscopy (without HD) After I was put on the table my bladder and urethra started to really hurt due to the fact my bladder was filling up and that cause a lot of pain if I have to hold it. Dr. comes in the room, I am already crying the pain is so severe.
The jerk starts speaking to me like I am a 5 year old child telling me what he is going to do. Well, first he pokes around on my bladder causing more pain. Then he starts the procedure I let out a scream. Now I am not one to scream in pain not when I had my babies, not ever. This hurt so bad I couldn't believe anything could hurt sooo much!! I am crying through the whole thing. When he finishes he leaves the room so I can get dressed. I told the nurse child birth hurt less by a billion times. Dr. comes back in the room says," I don't see what could have you in so much pain"...I am still crying. When I told him my GYNO was treating me for IC he said, "IC". I don't know if he meant ..I see or IC as in Interstitial Cystitis. Then he says he didn't see a reason why I hurt so much or why I had to pee 40-60 times a day, that maybe I should continue as I have with my GYNO and PA.
It was clear to me that this man did not want to be bothered by me, my pain or my lack of money. I am on state medical.
So, when I got home I called the PA and am now waiting for a call back from her. So she can get the ball rolling for my appointment at Stanford Medical Center.
Why does it seem to me (and my Mom) that there are sooo many heartless URO's. (Mom had a really bad experience too).
All in all this has been just a real crappy day all around. I think I will go take a nap and start over.
 to all of you for being here . It really means a lot to me.

Oh, Does anyone know were to get a card for bathroom use.
I have heard it mentioned and could have really used it the other day.
Thanks again to all of you for being here.

First, I'm sorry you had such a crummy experience at the uro's office... it sounds like he is not very compassionate. I hate to hear stories where people are in pain and the doctor doesn't believe them or care about it one way or the other.

I hope you do not go back there -- that you are able to either find another uro or that your gyno/PA continue to work for you. :grouphug:

Second, you can get the restroom access cards in the ICN Shop on the ICN website. I think they are $1.25 if ordered alone, or they are free with orders of $25 or more?

I hope you have a better afternoon...

Sarojini, Thank you for the info. And yes, that uro is fired. My PA will be calling me in the morning with the info I need for SMC.

:( Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience today--

I think you made the right decision to not return to that Uro--
It is important to have a trust and respect type of relationship with whoever is providing you with treatment and it certainly doesn't sound like that Uro fits the picture--
 Prayers going out for you that you will find the help and support that you need when you go to SMC--

Hugs & blessings to you--:cat:

I am so sorry that you had such a horrible experience...especially after waiting for such a long time for this appointment. I hope you are able to find someone who will be willing to help and work with you so you can find the relief you deserve.

I also had this same sort of experience with my uro. He was such a jerk. He did a cytescope and the distension with no pain meds or knocking me out or anything. He put me on Detrol la for OAB. Well I am seeing a new specialist for endometriosis and they are pretty convinced i have IC...this doc is also a specialist in IC...so I think I'm going to the right spot.
When I told my uro I was going there and having the pottasium test done...he said you don't have IC...if u did I wouldn't have been able to do the scope..I was like hello I almost fell off the table and I was screaming in pain the whole time. The sceduling girl even went and asked him to get something for me cuz i couldn't even walk...well he said she's just fine, it's just the bladder spasming and she'll be fine in a few hours. I was on the couch ofr 4 days, and it hurt so bad!! Worse than having a baby!

Well I am new here, but wanted to let u know I've been through the same...at least u have a good gyn..so do I, and I'm glad I have a doc that at least cares...instead of like this jerk uro:rolleyes:

Dear Joy,
I am so sorry you had that experience. It is appalling that any person, but especially a doctor, would behave that way. I also had a bad experience with my first urologist, but found a good one who has helped me these past 8 months. He also referred me to Stanford and I had an evaluation appointment there in March. I will start treatments at Stanford this summer.

I've only had the one appointment at Stanford so far, but felt taken seriously by the doctor and also really liked the nurses and office staff with whom I've spoken on the phone several times.

A link you might find encouraging...

Thanks very much for the words of encourgement. I spoke to my PA friday and she has sent all my information to ....Yes, Dr. Payne I make my appointment with him Monday:dance: After reading all the posts about him I knew I had made the right choice. I had read about him in the ICN and thought gee, wouldn't it be nice to have someone like that on my side and he is the one my PA mentioned first off. It is soooo cool to know there is someone out there that does care. I know it may take a while to get the appointment but I am willing to wait if it means I will be helped
Thanks to all of you for being here.
