This is my first post, but I have been reading the post and getting different views. I was finally diagnosed after 30+ years of drs telling me that the 4-6 episodes of "UTI'S" I was having was normal and the painful intercourse was par for the course use KY jelly. I struggle with this for all those years till this last Oct when I couldn't stand the pain, the burning, the backache the crippling feeling. I went to my PCP, more antibiotics, no help. Urologist no help and more antibiotics and no relief days I went to work, finally the GYN decided to work up the bladder and the first diagnosis of ICN came to play. He proscribed elmeron, prosad (makes my urine blue) and sent me home. I got on the internet and did research and found the Smith Institute and Dr. Moldwin and staff. I have been seeing Nahoma Karmen since December because I was also diagnosed with PFD. I can't say enough good things about their approach to my condition. I haven't had a flare, we are able to enjoy intercourse again and I can have a glass of wine occasionally. My PT has been reduced to 2x's a month and I am cutting back on the blue pills. I know I am not cured but to have some relieve is such a blessing.

I'm very happy for you. Have you considered trying an trycilic antidepressant or antihistamine?

I have not tried any antidepressants or antihistamines but I am on Valium 6mg per day that helps the PFD

Low dosages of trycilic antidpressants such as amitryptline/Elavil can reduce nueropathic pain and frequency.

Antihistamines are thought to help with the chronic inflammation in the bladder.

Amitryptline has been my life saver.
