Has anyone tried JAVAcid in coffee? I found their web sight and it is a packet you add to your cup of coffee to lessen the acid without changing flavor. One of the ingredients is same as prelief with others.I am going to stay off coffee for awhile but wondered if down the road this would be an option. I have tried cafix and don't especially like it and herbal teas aren't my favorite thing either. Coffee is one thing I really enjoy.:bonk:

I've not tried it myself. I googled it & looked at the ingredient list, which looks pretty ok to me, at least for a small experiment with a decaf coffee.... If you try it, let us know how it goes!

I have been using it for 2 months and love it. It really does work. I've been drinking regular coffee with it. I used to take prelief tablets, but I nurse my coffee and by the time I finish drinking it, I'm sure the prelief I took is totaling dissolved and not working anymore. Javacid dissolves beautifully, does not change the taste of coffee at all and it doesn't matter how long it takes me to finish my coffee, I know that the acid has been removed. The company gives free samples for those of you who would like to try it.

I order Prelief granules and it works just fine. An added "plus" is that they help us make the IC Network available for all of us.

Hi Donna, I have been using prelief since 1998 and I love it also, but there is a big difference with the prelief granules and javacid. It's fine when you add it to your coffee and don't reheat it. I reheat my coffee maybe two or three times before I finish my cup. When I do this with prelief powder it would float and separate on top of my coffee and I would not be able to finish my coffee. This does not happen with javacid. I still use prelief but use javacid for my coffee.

That's very interesting; I have found the Prelief granules can settle to the bottom of my cup if it sits for a while --- I just stir it again and it's fine.

Donna, do you have to put Prelief in your coffee? I usually just take 2 tablets before I drink a cup. Do you think one way works better than the other?

Prelief comes in both tablet and powder form. The powder can go in a drink, and I take tablets with foods if I have any concern about whether it's IC safe. I don't believe the powder is available anywhere other than the web site.

Do you think Javacid would work for someone who didn't have success with Prelief? I have tried every low acid coffee and everything still irritates my bladder and stomach. The worst part is that I suffer from severe nocturia, so coffee would be a savior to at least help me through the day since I am so tired to begin with. I feel like I was hit with a double whammy - no sleep and no ability to have coffee.

I'd love to know if there is anyone who has had success with Javacid where nothing before that worked.

Thanks!

I too am still unable to drink tea or coffee with Prelief. I'm pretty sure it's not the caffeine either because I can eat chocolate without it bothering my bladder (it just gives me terrible headaches!).

So, I'm very hopeful that this will help us IC sufferers. I can only assume it would work for us by inhibiting how much acid enters our blood stream from our intestines and therefore your bladders.

Fingers crossed!!! I'm awaiting my samples now.

(I also suffer from GERD and coffee causes me reflux pain as well.)

Hi Dana
I used prelief tablets with my coffee and still would get flare ups. I accidently came across javacid looking for low acid coffee. I am so happy I found this product. It really works. Since I have been using javacid I have had very few flare ups from coffee. I still use prelief for acidic foods. I sometimes take 2 prelief tablets and still add the javacid to my coffee if I've had a flare up from something I ate. It seems to help.

I received the free samples, but each packet had a cut in it,not the one to open it. We called the company to ask if they were all that way and were told that they would investigate it with the owner and call us back.
No call back. The packages were not truly sealed.
Has anyone else noticed this? My husband called back
again and left our name and number. Still no call back.
I am afraid to use the product.

In the world today, I would not use a product if the seal was not intact.

Hi, Sandy99 ~ I agree with Donna....would not use them....I got my samples and they are completely sealed with that little cut to tear them open at the top but totally sealed.

I received mine so promptly I couldn't believe it. Good luck as they sure seem like a reputable company.

I just went on Javacid's website but don't see a place where you can get a free sample. Does anyone know where to get it?

I too would love to find the free samples. Can someone who has gotten them help out with this so a bunch of us could give it a try? Thanks as always to you all.

OK you coffee lovers.....here is the JAVAcid link that I had received in an email....I used this just now and the offer appears to still be there but when I tested it for you, it wouldn't give me the discount. Don't know if it's because my computer is already on file as having ordered one or not. http://www.javacid.com/c-7-free-sample.aspx You enter the coupon code FREESAMPLE.

Good luck:hi:

I just placed my order for my free sample packets... I am sooooooo excited to try this! I have been drinking Puroast on a fairly regular basis and so far, so good. However these would be great for going on vacation, when you don't want to lug your own coffee with you!

I received my free packet a week-or-so ago. This stuff is very pricey, though. I would definitely only use them if I were away from home.

I just ordered my samples too!! I can't wait to try them. I don't drink coffee anymore becasue of my IC. I do have a little espresso every day (maybe an ounce!) because I just love the tase....but....I limit it to a tiny bit and I drink water after I have it.
If I am out with friends I'll order coffee if they are having it but I'll only take a sip and let the cup sit there. I can't risk the pain. So, I might be able to have a little more than a sip without fearing the pain!

I got my free samples a few weeks ago. I had totally given up coffee--well, maybe a cup of Euromild less than once a month. I used Prelief, 2 Prosed daily, and hydroxyzine. I put the JAVAcid in half decaf coffee, and by the fifth day I felt great. I stopped taking Prosed the second day I was on it. I have ordered more, but haven't received it yet, so have had to go back on Prosed. Prosed is very expensive, so $15 a month for JAVAcid seems like a bargain to me. Also the coffee I used to avoid actually makes me feel better when I use JAVAcid. So far, I love it!

About Javacid: They do come with a slight slit on the top of each packet which I think is supposed to help tear it open, however, the seal is intact. I just cut them open with a scissors. I don't think it's a tampering problem, just a poor design issue. Also, I'm not sure it's working for me. I've been using it for weeks and I still get flares after drinking the coffee and I've been getting stomach cramps and diahrea as well. It may be from the licorice extract. However, it's a great idea, it's affordable and it doesn't change the taste of the coffee at all. It's worth trying.

About Prelief: This didn't work for me at all. It did absolutely nothing.
