ive been in a constant flare for months--still on the elmirion for almost 6 wks. i know the diet list says i can drink blueberry juice but im wondering if its also causing my constant flare--what does everyone else drink besides water, milk and blueberry juice. work is getting very difficult for me, i wear a diaper to work just incase. i thought things were getting better-but i guess not. am i expecting miracles from the elmirion. i also take antitripyline and the hydroxyline(im sure i spelled those wrong)-i take 25mg of each morning and night, for about 4 1/2 weeks now. am i expecting miracles to happen as far as getting better this fast. its just every day i wake up, im hoping the nightmare ends-so i dont have to pee every 30 min.
Blueberry juice is not ok for everyone & some people can only drink it cautiously. When I first got IC, I could not drink it at all. Now, I can have 1/2 cup mixed with ice and 1-1/2c of water. I can only have it once in a day & not every day.
In the beginning, I could only drink water, milk, or hot water with honey. Everything else spiked my symptom levels.
Did you get worse before or after you began your medicines? I got steadily worse on Elmiron in the 2 months I took it. I got better about 10 days after I stopped it.
I hope you find relief soon,

Hi,
I drink Chamoille Tea mixed with blueberry juice (pure blueberry, no acids, etc)
everyday, about 2-3 big cups a day with about 1/4 cup of the blueberry juice. I almost think it calms my bladder, doesn't seem to make it worse at all. Although, my only problem is pain, not
the frequency. I did not start with the blueberry juice until I knew I was ok with it and worked up to more. Sadly, I think you'll have to give the Elmiron more time to work. I don't drink much else either besides the tea, milk and water. Boring, but you do somehow adjust and I was a huge coffee, diet pepsi drinker before this nasty illness. I am hoping everyday for miracles for all of us!
Good luck!

This is a case when you should probably trust your intuition. Try to avoid the blueberry juice for a few days to see if you improve.
It may be that you are having a period where you are extra sensitive to things. I know I get that way now and then. Sometimes, other things are in play, such as stress, etc....
My other suggestion would be to talk to your physician about possibly increasing the dose of your Elavil and/or Atarax. (I have trouble spelling them too so I just use the original brand names! :lmao:) Many of us take larger doses.
I hope you find relief soon. It is natural to be a little impatient, especially when we finally get a diagnosis. No person is the same with this disease, and sometimes it takes a fair amount of trial and error to get a treatment plan that works for you...
Gentle hugs............

Blueberries bother me but ketchup doesn't.. go figure. We are all differnet. I would stop the juice and see how you feel.
