My perscription plan just dropped Detrol b/c they say there are other options like Vesicare and Ditropan that I could use instead. I spoke with my doctor, and she said the side effects are much worse for those other drugs, and they don't work as well and suggested I stay on Detrol. I just found out that a month supply is now going to cost $160 instead of the $50 that I was paying before. I'm going to stay on it...but my question is-does anyone know when they will be making a generic for Detrol? it's been out for a while, so I'm hoping soon.

I dont know for the generic Detrol but for me Detrol doesnt work at all.
I take Oxybutitin (Ditropan), yes the product give me a dry mouth but it's work way better for me than Detrol.

Thank you everyone! Detrol also give me dry mouth...that's interesting about the ditropan though...maybe I'll give that a try. It was on the list of meds that my perscripton company would cover.
Thanks for the link! that stinks that Detrol won't go generic until after 2012, but at least it's not too far away I guess.
I'm trying to get off of Detrol anyways b/c my husband I want to try to get pregnant sometime next year. I'm giving myself some time to get off of it. So far, it hasn't been working very well. I just hope the docs can figure out a way to stop my spasms so I can get off the detrol.
Thanks again!!!

I'd try a different medicine that is more reasonably priced. Detrol isn't the only medicine of that kind. I'm sure if that works for you another one will too. If your doctor isn't willing to allow you to try other options I believe it is time to find a different doctor who will.

I know there are other options, but all the doctors I've talked with over the years have said they don't work as well and the side effects are worse than Detrol. My urogyn, OBGYN, vulo-vaginal specialist, and physical therapist have all said the same thing. I have tried Gelnique, and it was too strong for me and caused retention and hesitation. I guess it's more that I'm not willing to switch b/c i don't want to have to deal with a new set of side effects. We'll see what happens....
Thanks again for all the advice!!
