My Dr. wants to do another Distention on me, and the first one did not work it made me worse. I had it done 2 months ago. I have not felt good since. Has anybody else had this happen. I have been told that "most" people get relief from it. So I am going to refuse it today when I go in for my DMSO treatment.

It does help a lot of people, but I'm not sure it helps "most". It didn't help me - besides giving me my diagnosis - which was very helpful ;) But, once I recovered from the surgery I just felt the same as I did pre-surgery.

I had a reaction to the anathesia for a couple of days after mine. But felt good for a week. Sympthoms returned with a vengence.
I am not going to have another one .

Hi, When I had my first cysto with distension, I was in bed for a whole week first and then my bladder continued to be very bad for about 4 months. I would not have another one done. I also wont have any instillations as I am terrible to catheter.
Good luck with your treatment

I am having 6 treaments like they said and then I am stoping and going to go on the BladderQ from the Natural Bladder I here it is very good. Because so far the instills are not doing anything for me. Sometimes like this whole last week I feel worse instead of better.

Hi Sing to you
You must be online as I have just posted my last message.
You are very brave to have instillations done, I know I just couldn't doI it.
How many have you had so far? Do you think they are doing anything at all for you?
I hope you feel better soon

I just had my first cysto/hydro/dmso last Thursday. It was not as bad as I thought. However painful. I think the worst part was after in post op having to hold it in for 45 min. I was in bed from Thursday-Sunday. Then went back to work Monday. I am not feeling any worse than before, however not better either. Very tired though. From what I have read it might take a few weeks. I have a Doctor appt this Thursday for a follow up. They found 20% lesions on my bladder. However I don't know what that means at this point. He did confirm IC. I never spoke to the Doctor. He was gone before I woke up. Does anyone know what that means? Also do they ever do the DMSO part in the office? I am not sure what to expect this Thursday. I have to work after the appt, so I am scared of what they are going to do. If they start poking, it hurts for a while. Thanks for all of your support.

:hi: Dolby...
I have only had 1 DMSO treatment and that was done at the same time of my Cysto/Hydro. What I have read on the posts here is that the DMSO is usually done at the doctors office.
If your doctor wants to do more DMSO treatments...from what the others post, you might reconcider going back to work right after the treatment. You will have a strong odor simular to garlic and might feel some pain. If at all possible, arrange to take an extra day or two off just in case. Some people report that they have from slight to hard pain afterwards. You can always go back to work early if this is not the case with you. Ask your doctor for some pain meds to take after the procedure. Ask that they use a numbing agent when they insert the catheter. :)

Hi guys,All I can tell you is that DMSO is not for everybody and I am one of these Everybodies, I had my 5th yesterday, and I have canceling the 6th and last one. I will not go into detail why because that will not be fair to you all. It is just not right for some people, but VERY RIGHT for sooooooooo many others, or they would not be doing it. I just always seem to be the exception in everthing. It has taking me 17 years to finally find migraine meds to help me, that is a long search. What I can tell you is, What to expect when you go into the office to have it done, that is where mine were done.
This is the way they did it with me: (sorry for my spelling)Urine sample first, Then they instill a VERY SMALL catheter into the Bladder, release exccess urine, and then administer the DMSO, it might be a bit cold filling, maybe every so slight bit burnie filling, but not bad. And that's it The catheter comes out and you are done. Try to hold it for as long as you can. It is a very short procedure. It may bother you a bit to walk afterwards it may not, you might be sore you might not, I think that it all depends on how you are feeling when you go in there for your treatment, on how you feel when you come out. And yes there could be a smell to you. Sometimes though people have it more than others, I think I was one of the lucky ones and got extra stinky. hehe. If so, You will probably not smell yourself but others will, and it can last up to 72 hours, with me the longest has been about 2 days, somes times 24 hours, drink a lot of water afterwards. Let your family help you be the judge on if you could go into the work place or not. Smell wize I mean. I hope that every single one of you that are thinking about getting these treatment has very good luck with them. Because you could be the one that it does help, that is why I gave it a shot. I will still continue to take the Elmiron and I am going to start taking the BladderQ and we shall see. Sing_to_you:thumbsup:
