I have been told by a doctor that I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, this was a long time before being told about the IC, I wonder sometimes, Is this all in my head or am I having pain there too, could that be making things worse. I just read this the other day and I thought to myself What next. I just had my sigmoid colon removed this past December 1st and I feel like I sometimes I am still getting over that surgery, I am only 45. Anyone else know what is going on here?

Just to share with you of what I know from personal experience as well as medically.
I have heard through all of the thousands of articles, journaling* and whatever else I have read that IBS and IC can go together!
From a personal standpoint I have had IBS for about 5 years and IC for one (diagnosed) 3 years before I finally got diagnosed. The way I feel is that the two of them aggreviate*** sorry cant spell this morning.....lol That is what I have found my problem to be when one starts it causes the other to spasm as well. Seems like when things are quiet they are quiet together. Which is really strange but seems to be the way it works for me anyways every one is different.
As far as helping IBS just maybe work on diet. Maybe some of the Diets that are talked about for IC on this network I think alot of those same foods aggrevaite IBS as well. They do have a new medicine out there for IBS which is called Zelnorm. You can look it up on what it is and what it does on www.webmd.com.
Not sure if this helps you any but I thought I would just share what I have learned that can sometimes help us to put things in prospective.
If I can help in any other way please feel free to pm me.
 wishing you pain free days

Sing,
Did your doctor put you on anything for the IBS? When I was first dx'ed (Also before IC), mine had me taking levbid. I took it for years and went off it two and 1/2 years ago for a pregnancy. So with a bland diet at that time, the IBS was tolerated.
Now two years later, I've not had to take it again.
Watch your diet, strictly, for a month or so and see what happens.
It's not in your head!!!!!
If anyone ever tells you this, tell 'em to go fly a kite!;)
I hope you feel better soon!:hi:

No one tells me it is all in my head that is just me thinking it probably is cause here is just one more thing on my list ya know. The Dr. Has given me Dicyclomine 10 MG caps 1 cap 3 times a day or when needed, the thing is. I am not sure if I am taking these pills for the ISB or if I am taking them falsly for the IC. That is my delema. Ya know where I'm coming from? I can't tell witch one is witch any more there is so much going on down there:rolleyes: it get's real confusing and that is where I'm at right now. Thanks
