Hi everyone,

I've been having a very strange symptom that seems to be getting worse, so I wanted to see if anyone else has this. At random times and on random fingers, my fingers go numb. It happens a lot while I'm driving, but in both my "wheel-holding" hand as well as the other. It happens other times, too. I can't relate it back to any activity, to weather, or anything else that might make sense. Sometimes it will be two or three fingers on one hand, and sometimes it will be one finger on one hand and one on the other.

A couple of days ago, I noticed that the numb fingers were white, while the rest of my fingers were peachy colored (normal). I even took a picture to show my doctor when I go on the 22nd. Well today, I had one finger on each hand go numb on the way home, and it seemed to last way longer than usual. At one point, I happened to glance down at my hands...and the numb fingers were bluish black...they almost looked dirty or ink-stained. After another 10-20 minutes, the color went back to normal and the numbness wore off.

Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know what might cause this? I haven't noticed any other odd or new symptoms, other than my urgency and frequency has drastically increased. As I said, I see my IC dr on the 22nd, so I will mention this to him, but I'm hoping someone might have some good information in the meantime.

Thanks,
Claudia

hi
have you checked your medications to see if this is a side effect of any?

certain it isn't the cold weather?

just some thoughts...

I was thinking it sounds like Raynaud's, which can be associated with several conditions, or exist on it's own. A rheumatologist or your family doc can look into this.

It's funny you brought this topic up because the same thing was happening to me for a couple of weeks. One night my husband saw that the whole tip of my finger was white and then we both watch after about two minutes the color come back to my finger and I had sensation in it again!! I haven't had it in a couple of weeks and I am wondering if it was caused by Lyrica. It disappeared around the same time I stop taking that med. perhaps it is a side affect of one of the meds you are taking....I know it's freeky! Initially I thought maybe I had diabetes, because it runs in my family, and numbness can be a side affect of it. However I don't know for sure but I doubt it would drain the color from the finger????

Could it be an early symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome? I don't know anything about this, it's just a guess.

I have Raynaud's and that is one of my most annoying symptoms. That and when it's cold my fingers either turn dark purple or ghost white.
