hi everyone,
i have what is probably a stupid question about atarax.
i was wondering if it was a medication that you take as needed or if it was important to take it every day. if it is the latter, then how long does it take to work? thanks!

You would need to take it everyday, unless your doctor prescribed it differently --- but I don't think he would. I take 50 mgs. at bedtime, and have for several years now. I'm not really sure how long it takes to work, but it's definitely one of the best meds for helping with IC.

I am sure you need to take it everyday the idea of it is to reduce the mast cells in your bladder and to keep the number down.

Everyone is different as to how long it takes to work, for me it is the kinda thing i didn't notice a big difference but over time I could tell it was helping a lot. I had to stop taking it for a while and I thought no big deal, but within a week or so i noticed the difference of not taking it. I was off it for about 6 mons but I am back on it now for the last 3 weeks and I am starting to notice an improvement again, it just gives me an overall improvement of the feeling of my bladder. But I am having to build up to my previous dose again, because it makes me so groggy in the am.
