Hi girls,

I am in a terrible flare right now that is lasting more than 2 months and I am really trying anything I can to get better. I bought some Glucosamine (the brand is called NOW) and I noticed it made things worse. But I remember taking Cystoprotek years ago and not having any problems. I am thinking about taking it again to see if it helps but I am afraid because it has glucosamine in it. I remember when I took Cystoprotek a few years ago my bladder did not react badly to it, but I am not sure why the pure glucosamine is hurting my bladder now. Should I try the Cystoprotek now? Could it be that Cystoprotek will not hurt my bladder because it was especially made for bladders and that the glucosamine I took is not (by the way I took only 1/2 teaspoon for 3 days and it was bad, or maybe it could be something else I was eating? I am really confused about glucosamine helping most people but making my pain worse. Thank you for any help, Love.:help:

I also had this happen. Maybe it is a different kind of glucosamine than what is in Cystoprotek. Maybe it is of lesser quality. Or maybe it was something I was eating too. I don't know for sure.

Thank you Teresa. Are you still taking Cystopotek? I've checked its ingredients and it is the same glucosamine I took: Glucosamine Sulfate. Maybe my bladder doesnt tolerate the pure powder form. This illness is definitely a puzzle!

Hi, no I am not, but I loved it - it was working for my IC - until I developed (or always had) an allergy to crab. Since it is in Cystoprotek, I am not able to take it. I was wondering why I was getting so many diarreah and stomach issues.

Oh, my goodness, I'm so sorry. I feel personally responsible since I told you it was so good. Were you having diarrhea? I can't believe you reacted that quickly - there must be something else in there that bothers you too. Did your bladder hurt too? Sorry.:(

No worries, I was going to try again anyway. I did not have diarrhea. Just a lot of frequency, no pain. I want to try another day just to make sure because it was also the beggining of my period, so it could also be that. I was careful to spread it on a toast as I know I cant have titanium dioxide (probably on the capsule). But I know I get flares from pure glucosamine, which is odd. I want to make sure before I send the bottle back for a refund. I think it is weird it would help so many people but hurt me. I know I am very sensitive to many things but that was surprising.

By the way I know I am allergic to titanium dioxide because I flares if I eat cereals with it, but not with Cheerios.
