im sorry for asking another question out there, this is just so overwelming for me. been on the diet for a month and what else can i drink besides water, skim milk, and 100 percent blueberry juice. i am already sick of blueberry juice, and this is coming from a guy who could drink a 2 liter of diet coke every-other day(i already miss those days). howabout non-dairy creamers like creamora i think its called---i remember a recipe with that, garlic, parsly that makes a great sauce for pasta and rice. anybody have an idea?----sorry-im desparate

I'm not sure what's in Cremora, but the best recommendation I can give you is to read labels to see if there are problem ingredients like acidic preservatives (citric, ascorbic, sorbic acids), sulfites, sulfates, or ingredients that look like something found in a chemistry class! Those tend to be problematic for us.
Hope that helps! :)

I tired making my own eggnog I put 1 cup of milk in a pot, slowly add 2 eggs that have been wisked, heat over a low heat until well heated stirring often. I then add a bit of cream to it, you ma or may not want to do this depending on the milk you use I use skim because that is what I have in the house, the cream just makes it a bit richer, and I use this as a treat. Once well heated, this cooks the egg without it going into a solid lump. I remove it from the heat and cool it in the firdge. This makes me a couple of serving. If you can eat it you could add a sprinkle of cinnimon or nutmeg. I can eat these so I don't.
For a bit of a change I may add a spoonful of white hot chocolet mix.
I also drink white hot chocolet, when you are looking for a mix to buy buy one that has real chocolet items and milk, not all artifical. My husband bought me some but it was all fake stuff and had tumeric in it, not sure about that ingredence. Starbucks sells a white hot chocolet drink, and secound cup sells it too, but they also sell containers to make it at home.
Hope this helps you MG

I've read other posts of yours, Mudley, and I'm sorry you are feeling so lousy right now. I see you have been on the IC diet for a month, but that you are still having a lot of bladder pain, discomfort, etc.
Remember that the IC diet is only a guideline, based on the experience of many IC sufferers to various foods. Everyone is different. My suggestion would be to stick to a very strict elimination diet for at least another month. Although most of us with IC seem to do okay with pears and blueberries, that may not mean that drinking unlimited quantities of any fruit juice is necessarily okay with your particular bladder. You might try eliminating the blueberry juice. If you are already sick of it, that shouldn't be too much of a struggle!
I ate nothing but home-made chicken broth, poached chicken, rice, noodles, carrots, zucchini and buttered toast for at least 6 weeks when I first discovered the diet. Then I slowly introduced pears, dairy products, other sources of protein and whole grains and a variety of veggies. Water is your best friend BUT some bladders are so sensitive that certain waters are better than others. You might experiment with some different bottled waters, such as Evian. I can drink tap water, so I'm no expert on water.
I would also so be wary of non-dairy creamers, or any products with additives, faux sugar, etc. Eat things with the least amount of preservatives, hormones, fillers, etc.
There is no reason to believe that once you find the right treatment plan you won't be able to eat a wide variety of foods, but it's possible that even some of the things on the "okay" list are not agreeing with you just now. I hope you feel better soon!

That garlic pasta you are talking about is in the IC chef cookbook here and it's AMAZING! In fact, my family stopped eating the tomato sauce and started eating up all mine. the great part is that the leftover sauce makes great dipping oil for bread.
The white hot chocolate is good, they make it at Starbucks (you can add peppermint too). Warm milk and pumpkin seasoning is good too (they can also probably make that at Starbucks). Also, no fears, there will be more to drink when you get the diet straightened out more and are feeling better. Now I can drink ginger ale and kid's grape and apple juices... this is something more to look forward to, but hopefully you can try some of these things soon. You can drink pear juice - it's very thick which is weird but I do half water half juice and it's good.

Mudley,
Knowing your perspective from a male point of view, I know what you are going through. I have had some limited relief so, feel free to PM me and if you want and I can share.

mudley, Hang in there. I was like the others explained to you also. I was very strict in the beginning & now I can drink a cup (or two) of decaf coffee every day with Prelief if I'm not flaring. I missed diet soda too. I now drink mostly Deerpark water & do not miss soda. I know how hard diet soda is on the kidneys as well as the bladder. I now love my water. It is soooo hard in the beginning. I promise you it will get better.
