I'm not newly diagnosed but newly dealing with IC flares!

About 9 yrs ago I diagnosed myself with IC and it was confirmed with a cystoscopy withOUT anesthesia. (Dr. Barbarian is what I have called him ever since). Since then it has been controlled by diet and elimination of things. Every once in a while I'd get a zing in my bladder and knew I needed to be more careful with my diet. However that all changed a few months ago.

I have a lot of autoimmune diseases and deal with a lot of flare ups of different body parts and different things.

Back in late Sept of this year, I had a doozy of a bladder flare up to the point where I had to get an emergency appt with a urologist. Since then I've had a once a month bladder instillation of meds; just had the 3rd one today.

Last month I got an infection from the cathetor. I cannot take flagyl or cipro; so those are not for me. I was rx'ed last month an antiobitotic which gave me massive diarrhea so I lasted on that med 3 days. then was given another antibiotic which caused massive contipation and insomnia; lasted 2 days on that med. I have to get my sleep.

So far, knock wood, the instillation I got today is okay...it didn't hurt this time.

Next month I'll see the urologist again and talk with him about elmiron. I tried it way back when but didn't give it enough time to see if it worked because of the side effects.

I have a lot of food issues and there's sooo many food items that I cannot consume. Don't do dairy (lactose intolerant), eggs used to never bother me but for the last couple of years they give me massive gas, so I don't eat them any more.

I'll write more later about the other diseases I deal with.

Just wanted to write and say 'hi'....
