Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice if anyone coud help I would appreciate it. Since January I have had the following symptoms: I have pelvic pressure about 20 days out of the month but around 7 days a month the pressure turns more intense (feels like the crowning of a baby), lower back pain and sometimes the pain runs down my leg. All of this pain is worse in the evening/night. During these episodes I have a similiar feeling of a UTI but no UTI and no meds help. I also have small traces of blood in my urine. The kicker is NO frequency or urgency. Does this sound like IC?

How were you diagnosed? It's sounds like IC is a possibility.

Yes, It doesn't sound like my IC, but it does sound like IC. What makes you think it isn't? There are others here that just have frequency and urgency and no pain. Some that just have pain and no frequency and urgency.

For years, I had just frequency and urgency and maybe pain every now and then and what felt like a uri.

Hugs and blessings

Well I was juggled between uro, family physician and OB/GYN for a year. OB/GYN said it was my kidney stones doing this. Family physician said is was IC and uro said no b/c of no frequency/urgency. So finally they sent me to a specialist in Hawaii (I live in Japan-military). He did a cysto and it showed nothing. I think they just don't know what else to call it so they are saying IC so I will leave them alone.

I'm not a dr., but it also sounds like pelvic floor disorder. Maybe until you can get another opinion, you can try the diet, & get a script for physical therapy from your family dr. I don't know if it will be hard to find a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor problems in your area. Best of luck & feel better soon!

I am so sorry you have been experiencing such discomfort and confusion on your diagnoses. It does sound like IC.

My symptoms sounded similar to yours when my IC began. (June 2008) My doctors also had problems diagnosing, and it did not help that I was also in denial.

They wanted me on ELMIRON...I refused...they wanted to do a baldder distention...again I refused....INSTEAD i went on to the internet and thankfully found this site which led me to the IC diet, and other tips to help alleviate my discomfort.

I then found a great naturalpath, and a wonderful PELVIC FLOOR therapist who dealt with IC issues. I also had acupuncture and massage therapy, and did YOGA daily.

I sure hope you find some answers, and you are able to get some support here through the IC network. I would start the IC diet, as you may find some relief through this change alone.

((HUGS))

I can relate to the 'crowning baby' pain. I would get that with periods when it was close to menopause, due to narrow cervix that comes with age. When I got it some time later I thought it was the same thing, but discovered it was gas due to drinking dairy and ibs. abdominal pain can be caused by lots and lots of different things. The blood in urine sounds fairly serious, to me, anyways.
For irritable bowel and gas pain there is no better site than helpforibs.com. Jill reccomends them too. good luck!

That's kind of where I found myself. They tested, poked around, looked inside, and pretty much eliminated everything else they could think of that would be causing my symptoms. Finally they did a potassium sensitivity test which I reacted to and said "IC". That was five years ago now.

I wanted to mention that for many of us the IC diet is very important in lessening the symptoms we experience. If you haven't been there yet, here's a link to the diet page: http://www.ic-network.com/diet/ There's a link on that page "The IC Diet at a Glance (Cheat Sheet)" that can be extremely helpful. Even if you're doubtful at this point that your diagnosis is correct it wouldn't hurt to try the diet. If it is IC, it might make a huge difference in the symptoms you're having.
