Ok, so my activation to the forum was just grated today. I’m new to this whole thing.

My girlfriend and I started dating about 7 months ago and we both fell in love quickly. Things got really hard about six weeks back when she began the worst flare up of her life. (FYI, we are both very close to 30 and she has been diagnosed for 2-3 yrs, I think.) Having read this forum for a few weeks, I realize I will never truly understand what she is going through, but I am trying.

So, here is the question, I have read Please Understand, The IC guide for partners, The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide, Treatment Options and Coping Strategies, as well as The Five Love Languages, which was recommended by a friend of hers with different chronic pain. What should I read next?

Wow, that's really great! You've read some of the best stuff out there:) You might like the "Confident Choices" book & cookbook. I don't know if you like to cook, but my dad learned to cook IC friendly meals for me & my mom who also has IC. This has been a huge support and gift to us, especially when it comes to holiday meals. My relatives do unfortunate things to Thanksgiving dinner (like put Cajun spice on turkey & sour cream in mashed potatoes), but my dad made me & my mom our own Thanksgiving feast. It was so nice to feel cared for, instead of ostracized.
