Mrs. Cynthia
Thank you . . .

. . for contacting me regarding your support for increased funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I share your view and appreciate hearing from you.

I have been a long-time advocate for health research. I believe that increased medical research funding is one of the most beneficial investments our country can make. It provides assistance to people in need immediately, and new discoveries and medical enhancements will continue to help our families, neighbors and friends for many years.

As a member of the House of Representatives and now as a U.S. Senator, I have supported NIH budget increases. I will continue to strongly support measures that would increase the NIH research budget.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me again, whenever I can be of assistance to you in the future.

Sincerely,
Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator

Cindy,
That was so nice of you to take the time to write that letter. And the fact that you were heard, should inspire others to do the same.

Hi Cindy,
That is great!!! Isn't she the same onr that takes senior citizens to Canada to get their drugs cheaper?? Seems like I remember her from living in Michigan.
Hugs

I also heard back from Fla Senator Bill Nelson.. it was nice to hear back.. I re-emailed to be sure to address this at the next mtg, not to just say "if it comes up he will address it"..
Looks like you made an impact.. good job!!!

Wasn't she the secretary of state who ran for senator a year or two ago? I'm impressed she wrote you back. Michigan is writing legislation for cards to give the handicapped bathroom access even in places that don't have public bathrooms. I saw a post on it on eatingforibs.com I thought that would be useful, but now I need them for Illinois. (most of the gas stations here have bathrooms unlike Michigan)
