Is IC/PBS the same thing

I have been exchanging posts with an other pesrson on this site and have been debating wheather IC/PBS is the same thing or are 2 different conditions.She stated " have been diagnosed with Painful Bladder Syndrome and not IC"

I said I thought they were both the same condition.

Does anyone know for sure about this issue just curious.

Most of the references I have seen to it seems to present them as alternative names to the same condition.....

I do think both names refer to our condition. Anyway, I do know the ICA had a questionaire about whether we wanted to keep the name interstitial cystitis a while back. Yep! Some people, over in Europe if I am not mistaken, wanted to use bladder pain syndrome.(and may be using that one now) Of course, I said I was told IC and will continue to say I was diagnosed with IC. Besides, I don't have pain, but I did view a picture of my bladder. Oh, yeah! Over half of the people that responded were agreeing with interstitial cystitis as the name. Hey! It must have more than a single name now. I looked up chronic fatigue syndrome in a medical book at a bookstore yesterday.(just killing time and all)(been told CFS before) It did show more than one name for that condition as well.

Thanks for the responces I was chatting with another poster, and she said felt she didn't have IC but PBS and I took it to mean that she felt they were 2 different conditions. Then I started 2nd guessing myself if I was mistaken so just wanted some elses opinion too.
