here's a question. I haven't had a UTI in over twenty years, but have had two in the last year, one severe enough to keep me away from work for three days. Will the IC diet with its attempt to alkalinize my urine make me more susceptible to UTIs, since it is an acid environment that the bacteria dislike ( cranberry juice being a prime example )? What is the proper pH for urine supposed to be for optimum health? I guess I'll try googling this question too, but maybe someone else has asked it before and knows the answer. Thanks!

The IC diet will not make your urine alkaline --- we know many, if not most, acid foods and drinks will cause bladder pain in an IC patient --- that does not mean that the urine will become alkaline. Healthy urine is slightly acid.
