Check out this wonderful list of foods that may help you and your IC where your diet is concerned. I live by this, It is a good expansion from the Elmiron Diet. Happy eating...

Smiles........it is actually an updated version of what we have had here at ICN. We are trying to get the Elmiron diet out of circulation. :-)
I am SO glad you are finding it helpful!!!

Question my husband bought pomegranate juice i did see it on the list unless I am blind which could be sometime you can't see what is right in front of your face.
Where does this fit on the diet, I am thinking too acidy, I have not tried it. I realize the diet can not list every food but would like to know about it.

Hi Mothergoose,
I don't think we added it because we no or very little information about how it affects IC patients. I know I can have a small glass, but my bladder has been behaving lately. (knock on wood and 10 Hail Marys!)
If anyone has information on this, please email me (julieabeyerrd@aol.com) or Jill (jill@ic-network.com). We are collecting responses to the new diet list and will discuss them with the team after the holidays.
Great question Mothergoose! Hugs!

One of my favorite fall treats was to eat a fresh pomegranate. It has to be done in private, and there's no neat way to do it. No matter what it's a bloody mess, with red juice dripping down your chin and into the sink. But it's so yummy! Haven't gone near one for two years, since going on a low-acid diet. I would love to hear about anyone's experience with pomegranate. I just assume it's very high acid.

I too just assume it is high in acid. But yesterday I ate half of a large one with no ill effects, but my bladder has been good lately and I see to be able to eat lots of things when it is good that I could not eat when it is bothering me.
If I try the juice I am going to water it down.
I assumed it was not on the list as it has really only been a few years you could buy it as a juice, and it usually is very expensive, but it has been toted as good for you etc. But being this expensive it is not something I would buy very often.
I will not try the juice right away I don't want to push my luck but if I try it I will let you know how I do with it. I don't drink any juices of any kind it is just not my thing.
Thanks for the reply MG

For my money, POM Wonderful is the best pomegranate juice on the market. Comes in the nice curvy bottle. I used to cut it at least 1 to 1 water and drink it over ice and sometimes with bubbly water instead of tap. But you're right, it's pricey, so there's one more reason to water it down if you decide to try it.
I'm excited that you actually ate half a fresh pomegranate! I'm having a minor flare this week, although I can't be sure what triggered it--maybe just a combination of bold eating (I'm thinking the culprit may have been some very spicy Vietnamese food; they were mild dishes I've had before successfully, but this time there must have been a lunatic with hot peppers in the kitchen)--so I'm not gonna try any pomegranates right now.

POM is the juice my husband bought. And to tell the truth the other 1/2 in the fridge is calling me. I had a flare a little while ago, I ate a chinse restaurant that I have eaten at many times before, but my husband ordered before i got there I always order no garlic no ginger and no MSG, I know he asked for no garlic no ginger but I think he forgot about the MSG, I had the worst headache right away and before the day was out I was in a flare. Thing was while i was eating it I commented on it was the best food i had had at this restaurant.
take Care MG
