I was diagnosed with IC in Sept. of this year. I never had any problems with urgency/frequency except when I would go out to bars and drink. I could drink about 2-3 beer and then have to "go". Once I "broke the seal" I had to go a lot more often, but a lot of my friends are like that too so I didn't think it was a big deal. Could this have been an early symptom of IC?

Once in awhile I would also get a burning feeling when I would urinate, but that would only last for a day or two and then disappear for long periods of time. Could this have been an early sign of IC?

My last bladder infection was about 5 years ago. I was put on Macrobid and still felt the burning when urinating so then I was put on Cipro and still felt the burning after finishing this course of antibiotics as well. I was referred to Uro who did a quick exam and said nothing was wrong with me and gave me a list of foods to avoid. To be honest, I can't remember even remember what was on the list. I just know I didn't follow it. I blew it off and continued to live my life. The burning with urination cleared up on it's on after a short while. Could this have been an early sign of IC?

And now...I find myself in the situation I am in now. Same exact thing happened w/the bladder infection I had 5 years prior, only this time the symptoms did not clear up.

My doctor said I probably have had this all of my life, but never really noticed it so now I'm wondering if all the things I mentioned above could have been early signs of IC?

that could be early symptoms of ic. I remember when I was a child I would have stange sensation in my bladder, like pressure or pinching or spasming and later in life I had burning of my urethra but not when peeing unlike a uti, but I thought it was just a uti.

I think these may very well have been early signs of IC. Looking back, I too had hints that all was not right which were either mild or short episodes that I didn't pursue since symptoms always stopped. I feel these were actually the beginnings of my IC.

I'm not sure if this would be IC. Everyone pees frequently when drinking. The stinging could be a lot of things. You could go to an infectious disease specialist to get evaluated for any possible infections. They know more about all the kinds then a uro or regular internist. Also, It could be possible that you have a mild Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. You might want to get looked at for that as it can progress as more tension over time increases the symptoms.
