Hi

I am newly diagnoised and looking for others to share stories of success and treatments...recipes...whatever! I live about half hour east of London and am in my mid forties. I also suffer from an eating disorder and have found that support groups and the friends I have made through those have been the key to my success in recovery from that..(although I am still working daily on that as well as my IC)

I am currently on my second month of Elmiron, no bad side effects yet, and some mimual results with pain but not urgency. Diet seems to be helpful but i am still working out the kinks on it and keep screwing up...especially in restaurants!!!

Anyways...pls message me if you are interested in chatting!

Thanks!

Andi :smile tee

Welcome Andi to the Canada chat board, nice to hear from you ..

I am from Ontario as well , there are lots of us out there but not as many post here which is to bad, there is lots of information on the IC-network ..
I hope some one see your posting and will post to you ..

I am doing great with my IC, I had InterStim Implant done in 1999 and have done really well since ..

So as for diet just look on the the left side of this page and look up IC diet resources and they are lots of things on treatment , great information for you ..

All the best , Debbie

Thanks so much Debbie for replying. I have found a few people but nobody really close to me location wise. I long to be able to find or even form a support group to go to. I have another illness ( an eating disorder) and the fact i can go weekly to a group and to workshops helps so much with my recovery. Although it is so different in that it is a mental illness, it is so similar in that there really is no true cure yet there is potential for remission. Because of that there is a problem with depression and anxiety.
I am finding now I just don't want to leave the house...ever in fear i will have to pee and not being able to find a washroom.
My diet is coming along well, thanks to this wonderful network. Man i would be lost w/o it!! I find for the most part even the people who are really suffering are positive. I did have a dreadful weekend as i have terrible time with sinus headaches and didnt realize that pseudophedrine was a trigger. After taking it in massive doses all weekend and feeling like i was ready to die....i looked it up and found it on another IC page somewhere that it was BAD!! Not sure now how i will deal with the headaches as they are bad, but won't be taking the OTC sinus meds again. It certainly is trial and error isn't it!!

Thank you again for replying...do you mind if i ask where you are in Ontario....if you don't want to list the city just the area...ie S/W Ontario??

Welcome to the forums! Feel free to send me a private message if you are looking for doctors - I have seen a lot of them!

Hi Andiejean ,

I was borned and raised in Gananoque and live in Amherstview for nine years and now living in Peterborough ..
I am hoping to moved back to the Kingston area within a couple of years..

I know how you feel Andiejean about not wanting to go out , I was like that for over five years, I did every kind of medication and treatments out there at the time and the only thing that helped me to live a very normal life was the InterStim Implant ..

I know there are lots of treatments out there you just got to find that right one for you ..
I never gave up , I went to over four different doctors until I found the right one that could help me..

Just don't give up , there are many things to help you and so sorry you are dealing with a eating disorder that to is very hard too ..

I have been very sick most of my life and just now in remission from cancer , so I am staying and thinking with a very positive attitude , that has help me a great deal to get through all of this ..

Take care and private message me anytime I am here for you !

Hugs, Debbie

Welcome Alleytally ,

Wow, so close to my home town and I just love Kingston and will be moving back to that area in a couple of years, I miss home so much.

I went to the IC clinic at KGH for many years , until I found my doctor at Toronto Western Hospital , he is just so wonderful, I would not have a life as good as I am having if was not for him ..

If you would like to private message me anytime , please feel free to do so .

Hugs, Debbie
