Second visit to new urologist today after failed attempt at trying vesicare, my biggest complaint right now is constant pressure which gets worse toward the evening and is very uncomfortable. I don't have pain too much on the diet but I get pain if I try a medicine or supplement that doesn't agree with me and if I accidently eat a flare food. Of course there is the frequency associated with the pressure. Although I do not have many of the classical symptoms of pfd, the dr. thinks my pressure is a pelvic floor muscle problem. I think this may be possible as a do feel some pressure in lower back vaginal wall some. If it is true it is most likely because my muscles have inappropriately tightened from the ic pain ect. and now they are not normal. We are doing urodynamics testing in the morning and she is thinking I will need to do pelvic floor therapy. I also am going to try and start taking Valium 2mg 3 times a day after the test as a muscle relaxer. She also wants me to do the distention that you are put under for to verify IC conditions but I may wait to see how the Valium works for me. I will let you all know how it goes.

Urodynamics test today, not to fun to have little probes shoved in everywhere but not painful really, catheters don't bother me too much. First day on low dose Valium, seem to help with the pressure some today but still having it this evening, suppose to gradually get your pelvic muscles to relax over the long term though. Thank goodness not noticing any side effects to Valium just a little sedating with the first dose. Results of Urodynamics in the morning

Well, second day on Valium and feeling even better than the day before, mornings are best but today I went from 7:30 to 11:30 without going pee, wow, afternoon is better than my normal afternoon too , some pressure but less pressure for sure. So I got the results today of urodynamics she said my capacity when I concentrated on holding it was great. However, she said based on the tests my bladder muscles were having to push a lot more than they should to pee, she said the bladder really should use very little muscle, I was also using too much perinium muscles too, she said my flow was significantly smaller than it should be even after the did a quick fill to capacity. She thinks I should receive some relief from a uretha dialiation where they put you under. I have had an urethra issue before when I was 21 it helped at the time but they did an in office dialation and my dr says that those type do not last. They will also do a hydrodistention to look for signs of IC while I am under. I am doing pretty well with pain sticking to the diet so hopefully the IC part is mild or almost healed. She thinks my urethra problem and initial IC pain led to increased tightening of pelvic muscles which could be causing my lasting frequency and pressure. the tighter they are the more pressure I feel the more I will tightened them, ect ect. I will also probably need to do pelvic floor therapy after the treatment. Feeling some hope now that I will be rid of this pressure

Vesicare and Detrol did nothing for me either. My docs put me on Urispas, which is a urinary muscle relaxer. It hasn't fixed me, but it has made things much better.

Ditropan,Detrol La,Enablex and Vesicare were tried on me and none of them worked. So the Urologist blamed it on my age and lack of hormones but didn't put me on Vaginal cream and just let me suffer. I'm so glad I went searching for a new Dr. and found one that cared and gave me the right medicine.

Hi Abby,

Your symptoms are very much like mine. I began pysio for PFD a few weeks back as well as the biofeed. It is my understanding that these, if they do help, take awhile. I still have the continual pressure in the bladder area. I am not really on any other meds right now except Elimron. I have tired a few others both they made absolutely no difference. Can you tell me does the valium really make a difference with the pressure (feeling very full) ? I would really like some relief because even if the pysio does help it could be awhile and this is driving me crazy!
