I was put on Dexedrine for ADHD recently. I've also been pretty stressed. I was wondering if dexedrine could cause flares? They've been mild, fortunately.

I had no idea that it can actually help IC, so now I'm leaning more toward stress being my trigger. Thought I'd ask just in case.

I've learned that stress can cause flares. I also know that dexedrine has been used successfully to treat IC, but I've also been told by my current dr. that it can cause flares. Sorry I'm not much help. If my current treatment of amitriptyline hadn't helped me, I was going to try the dexedrine. Feel better soon.

But, it took awhile b4 my body got used to it. I wondered at times if it was causing flares. You might check w/your doc and ask his/her opinion re lowering the dose and carefully, slowly raising it to their optimum for you. That's what my doc and I figured out. Adderall-- I would not touch b/c of the extra salts that make it longer lasting. I've definitely heard a few people here say that Adderall-- longer acting dex basically.

Dex has also helped my energy level and combated the fibro very well.

Each of us is different-- so consult with your doc and see if the gradual increasing of the dose to optimum might help. GOOD LUCK! Search SamandMichelle's posts on their experience with Dex. You might find them interesting and helpful.
