Hi!
My first DMSO treatment was one of the most horrible experiences of my life. HOWEVER, I stuck with it anyway, and it got easier and more comfortable with each instill. It was never what I would call enjoyable, but it improved to the point of being quite bearable.
I could never hold it more than 20-25 minutes though...

Hon i'm so sorry.:( my first six was awful and very painful for me I never wanted another cath. in my life I hated just going to the doctor because of the dmso.
but a year and half later after i had been on elimron for a while and my true uti has went away for a while my doctor asked me to try them at home well to be trueful the first few i did at home wasnt that great either but i kept it up i felt i had nothing more to lose i had try almost every thing else. well now i take them with no problem and my bladder feels much better. now i'm not saying this is going to happen to you. everyone is diff. and each and ever ic pat finds diff. ways to help them self but hon i do wish you well.
sending you gentle hugs and prayers

Sorry you are having so much trouble with DMSO treatments. I hurt for about a week after one. Hugs I just rest and take my pain meds.

Try taking a pain pill about an hour before your treatment, the catheter will be less painful. My doctor's office says, take a pain pill before hand, then put an icepack between your legs after you get home.
My DMSO treatments are going wonderful, although it does hurt to pee, and I'm sore. There isn't any actual pain in my bladder. It's just that yucky feeling of filling up!
I hope it get's better for you. My fourth DMSO is on Monday!

I had my monthly DMSO treatment yesterday. I was uncomfortable most of the afternoon, but I feel better today. My uro's nurse instills lidocaine before the DMSO, which really helps.
Sending healing thoughts,
Donna
Donna, my daughter says that she likes your name.
I'm glad your DMSO went well.

I do a treatment of DMSO and Sodium Bicarb. every month. It helps to use Lidocaine as Donna does. I am allergic to it tho. I hope the next treatment is not so bad. Hugs
