Hi...Was wondering if anyone has any luck with Soma...I seem to have a lot of muscle stiffness / spams...I need something that works hard because I sometimes feel soooo tight in my flank area, etc. Not looking for advice, etc....Just wanted to see if anyone has had any good / bad experiences with this medication. Planning on talking to my doctor on Monday about this, but as usual it is better to hear it from actual patients! Thanks

I personally depend on Soma 350mg for two things. Sometimes I take one during the day and I find it really does relax my muscles and can help taper off my symptoms till later in the day. The other thing I find it works well for is combining it with Vicodin 10/1000 for a solid 6 hours of sleep without waking up to pee. Soma is a great drug, but for me it makes me sleepy more than anything else. But it does relax my muscles. However for me Flexeril is better at relaxing my muscles, so I use that when I really badly need my pelvic floor to relax. And even better than that is Valium Vaginal Suppositories. I get scripts for all three and use them as needed depending on how bad my symptoms are.

Soma is mostly known to make people sleepy though and be a moderate muscle relaxer, which is what it does for me. I don't know anyone who takes it that doesn't usually get really sleepy from it. I know you say your not looking for advice, but if you haven't tried Flexeril you might try that too. Different people have different "sleepy" side effects from both, and I'm not sure if you want to be sleepy or not.

Soma has been a Godsend for me. It helps me more then pain meds. I feel very relaxed but not sleepy. That's just me. It may affect other people differently. I take two a day. One in the morning, one at night. Mine is called Carisoprodol 350 MG's. I hope you have good results from using Soma. Keep us posted please. It could be that many Doctors never think of this as help for IC patients. I believe everything in our bladder area is connected, muscles, nerves, kidneys, ETC. If we can get them to relax it makes sense to me that there will be less pain. Please do not drive until you know how this affects you. No problem for me but major problem for my husband. He seems slightly drunk while on the drug and can not and will not drive while on it. He may take one in a three month period due to muscle pain. He was also given this drug by our Doctor and does not take mine. Hugs, Ziggy

Thanks. I have been attempting to get ahold of my doctor for over a week now to see if I can try this medication because I think if I could "relax" I would actually get some sleep which would mean the world to me...!!!:smile tee
