Is anyone able to eat tomoto or pizza without a flare? I haven't tried either since being diagnosed a year ago. I haven't had any mini-flare since February and was wondering if I should take preleif and give it a try. Thanks, Sue

I am afraid to try regular pizza but if I really crave it, I get one with NO sauce, just mozzarella cheese and veggies I tolerate. I do fine with that and don't have to risk the tomato. It doesn't have the "zip" of a regular pizza but it does satisfy the craving.

Hi, I have been able to, and usually if it is really tomatoey, I take prelief and so far, so good, I just try not to overeat, as I love pizza and spaghetti. I just tried a little at first and added the prelief just before I ate them. Good luck if you decide to try them, let us know how you do, hugs Iris.:hi:

OUCH...I learned about tomatos the hard way. :yikes:

Hope someone has a better answer for you soon. I haven't had pizza in sooooo long and have wondered about this very same thing! Thinking since it is just a little sauce on top of a lot of dough, could it be OK?

Well, I'm meeting hubby and friends at a favorite Pizza place tonight after work and have already surrendered to ordering salad.

BUT I WANT PIZZA. :biglaugh:

I've done pizza, but taken 5 prelief just as I started to eat. Have been OK with it. Hubby always raises an eyebrow when I get into anything tomato, but I gave up chocolate AND coffee. Isn't that enough??? Don't know if it will work for you, but if you "go for it" crank up the prelief.!!!....Donna L

For the first several months after diagnosis I could not - even with Prelief. Then after being on Elmiron over a year I found that I could in small quantities, Now, after even longer I can eat it anytime. BUT, in the beginning I avoided tomato like the plague. It was my biggest triggers.

Most pizza places will make a pizza without sauce--Pizza Hut usually makes it pretty well. I actually prefer a sauceless pizza now.

I order pizza and ask for "very little sauce". Prelief helps me too, so I take it along with any "risky" food. Good luck! Hope it works for you!:)

Suprisingly I don't really have a problem with sauces. I do try to avoid eating tomato though - it's always been an irritant for me and I don't like eating just regular tomatoes much. Cooked sauces seem to be fine. I also take prelief - so I'm sure that helps. I guess I'm lucky in this regard - because I do okay with the pizza and spaghetti sauces.

I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy some aspect of this food. It looks like there are a lot of people on here that gave you some good suggestions.

Good Luck!
